A busy few days at our place

Following on from my discussion about the Ettamogah Pub, this photo is of the Quindanning Hotel. We are going there on a bus trip on Monday with other residents from our village. The photo is from a school reunion that was held there some years ago. In other news, we are waiting for a couple of tradespeople at the moment. We’re having solar panels put on the roof and also getting a quote to put tinting on the windows that face east. Although it’s not summer yet, we can tell that we’re going to get a lot of heat on those windows. We’ll have a blind there as well. Later today, Vince has an appointment with a chiropractor, who is the daughter of a school-friend. She is in her last year of training and Vince has been a lot better since his regular visits. He has also bought a massage stick which helps too.

I like the stones in the front of this one. I have heard many say the solar panels help. Hope the chiropractor helps Vince.

With luck the panels will supply most of the power we need during the day - as long as the sun is shining of course.

You appear to have a great climate for solar panels. Hubby talked us into getting solar panels put on the west side house.

Australia gets a lot of sun so we're suited to solar energy. Have yours made a difference to your power bill?

@JudyEv The solar panels are on the house that we'll move to. The renter hasn't told us about the power bill yet.

@sallypup I'm sure your bill will be less than without the panels.

That sounds like a lot of fun. My husband and I are considering looking into solor, ourselves. Not sure if we qualify, considering the neighborhood, but it's fun to think about.

We don't have many panels here because we're only allowed so many but it should be enough for most of our needs.

That is a quaint looking place. I hope that you enjoy your trip there Monday. I think solar panels and tinting your windows will help you out in the days ahead. A good chiropractor is a great way to help ones health. I went to one on several occasions, always felt better afterward.

The panels are up and we've accepted a quote for the tinting so that just might happen tomorrow. Two more things to tick off the list of to-dos.

Very nice, that sounds like a good little trip. I hope everything goes smoothly with the solar panels being installed, and hope Vince continues to feel better, with the chiropractor visits. Cheers!

Thanks. The solar panels are up and working and Vince isn't back from the chiropractor yet but I'm sure he'll feel the benefit from his visit.

I hope he gets a lot better really soon. I wish they could put those solar panels on my home but I was told my mobile home wouldn't be able to support them due to their weight.

I just talked to a firm that sells solar panels but the only ones they have are the big ones that they can put on the roof of a house.

The chiropractic visit is a routine thing. While he goes regularly, he doesn't need to go but once he stops going he starts having problems with his back and shoulder. It's a shame you can't have panels installed. Some who own caravans have solar panels in a frame and they just place it on the ground whenever they pull up at a camp site. I wonder if they would work for you. Maybe you'd need too many of them.

Very good idea to put the solar panels and I hope you get a nice quote for the window tints. Better to have them installed early before the heat comes. Happy to know that Vince has gotten better!

I was reading a couple of months ago that there is now a film you can have put on your windows that generates electricity, too. I have no idea how expensive it would be, though... Solar panels are probably a good idea...

I haven't heard of that sort of film. The panels are up and working so that's a good thing. Tinting might happen tomorrow.

@JudyEv Wow! That was quick! Do you know if your system will send any extra electricity back to be bought by the electric cooperative?

@DaddyEvil Yes, it will but because we're only allowed 3 kVa here (the cables they put in are too light for anything bigger) I don't think there will be much going back into the system. It was different on our 18 acres as we had a lot more panels.

@judyev a handsome looking hotel. Never heard of a massage stick. I had a soak in a hot bath with Epsom salts tonight and that always helps my back enormously.

That looks like a decent hotel. Good that these visits to the chiropractor are helping Vince. I am curious to know about a massage stick Solar panels are a worth investment in long run

I guess the massage stick is like a back scratcher but one end has 'heads' that vibrate and turn. It's an electric device and you move it up and down on whatever area needs some comfort.

Yes, blocking those east-facing windows is quite important! Hope you can get a good price for the work. I just have heavily insulated curtains over the window that faces east (which would be, of course, the biggest window in the house: the living room picture window!).

@JudyEv Being that I play so much paintball, which is definitely a young man's sport, I constantly have aches and pains on a daily basis. Thankfully, we have a physical therapist on staff with the team, and she is constantly stretching and massaging our muscles to help us feel better and relieve the aches and pains.

He hasn't played golf for ages as he had a crook shoulder. Now he's found a good chiropractor, he goes regularly. We both have dodgy backs. He's made an appointment for me for next week as I've had a lot of leg aches lately too.
