Got those 29 injections today

This was my twelve week schedule to get the Botox injections for my chronic Migraines. They've never been my idea of a fun experience, but they seemed to hurt a little more today. The same Nurse Practioner did them (I would rather she did them than the doctor.) I get about 29 in the head, shoulders, and neck and it only takes twenty minutes or so. I try to remind myself it's not the tiny needle that hurts, it's the medicine that burns going in. I'm so thankful my insurance covers it...if it didn't, only the very wealthy could afford it. So, hopefully I'm all set for another three months. The shots aren't fun, but it's so worth 20 minutes of bearable pain to not have a headache every single day. Hope your day has been more enjoyable than mine. Although we did have Chinese takeout for supper.

You're the second person this week to mention injections for migraines. I hadn't heard of it before. Gosh, you're pretty lucky that it works AND it's covered by insurance. I hope the next three months are migraine free for you.

@Vikingswest1 It really is an answer to prayer for both of us. My grandson had the classic attack type when he was little, but seems to have outgrown them. I have the chronic kind that aren't as severe and debilitating, but I had them every day. I don't know why Botox is so expensive, but thank God for good insurance.

Thanks, so far they work well. My daughter gets them also for migraines.

This is a lot of injections, but if the treatment lasts for many months it is not too bad compared to migraines.

The needles are small, but the medicine burns.

@1creekgirl Most of the time it's not the needle that hurts.

It sounds a lot worse than it is! Really not very painful, tiny needles, but oh, so worth no migraines for three months.

@RebeccasFarm I'm sure sorry to hear that. Has he found anything that helps? Our grandson had them from a baby, but seems to have mostly outgrown them at 18. I pray your son gets some relief.

Thanks, the shots aren't all that painful and it's worth it to go three months without a headache.

I think it's supposed to be 30 or 31, but I got a drooping eye lid for a while one time when I got cosmetic Botox between my eyebrows, so she doesn't put one near there now.

No headaches seems like a good trade off for 20 minutes of pain. Didn't know botox worked for migraines

It was discovered accidentally when women who got cosmetic Botox realized their migraines were better. A big study was done and it really does help me and my daughter.

I am glad they seem to help you with your headaches. That is a lot of needles. Glad you enjoyed your Chinese takeout afterwards.

Glad you found something that works. My friend gets these injections and they help her a lot. Also glad your insurance covers them. They can be very expensive.
