I've already started

September 4, 2021 8:53am CST
I started as I was making my breakfast. I opened the cabinet as the coffee was brewing and threw away things that had expired. I turned around, said "oops, I need to start my meal" and popped two egg whites with spinach and peppers into the microwave. The coffee was about ready so I took out the creamer, and grabbed a fork to stir with. A fork because I didn't want to waste a spoon when I was going to need a fork to eat with anyway. So that was the beginning of the kitchen cleanup. I get up every few minutes and clean out another part of the cabinets. I'm completely done with one and almost done with another. Then it's on to cleaning the stove and the fridge. Oh, and rearranging a cabinet in the dining room. I'm going to work on the kitchen as long as I feel motivated to do so. I now have two empty Golden Wheat (large glass jars) to figure out what to do with. Any ideas?

I have. Since wrting this discussion I have cleaned the microwave, under the microwave and thrown away a few more things I'd missed in the first cabinet. I estimate I have another two hours worth of work give or take.

My, aren't you ambitious?!!! Good job! You can use large glass jars for pasta or any other dry ingredients, especially if you want to keep them safe from bugs.

I don't use traditional pastas or rice with being on keto. I may put candies in them, or possibly use them in other parts of the house. Right now they are still on the draining mat to thoroughly dry.

I store beans in mine--works well and I can see what is in the jar--

I should have put the stipulation that I'm on keto. All the obvious things don't work for me. Ideally I would store rice or pasta in them though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have never understood how a person following the keto route stays full. Call me dense, I guess.

I do have those fake gems that I could put in one or two... That's not a bad idea. I suppose I could make a fake terrarium of sorts in one as well. Change? Oh I have a zippered bag for that.

@RebeccasFarm It's a bag that says "I'm a daydramer." I bought it from the dollar tree.

Large glass jars? I have flour in one gallon jar and sugar in another gallon jar.

I keep my flour in the pouches it comes in. I have to put it in the fridge when I start to use it. Almond Flour.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have used almond flour and yes it belongs in the fridge or it will go rancid. I also use garbanzo flour and like that. My whole wheat flour is in a jar in the freezer.

@MommyOfEli2013 That is how I am feeling today. No Motivation. There are things I could be doing, but it's not necessary.. Well I should do some laundry.

It depends on how big your jars are, as to my suggestions. I hope your motivation and interest hangs on for a while, oh, and can you send some to me?

I asked my closet friends the same question. They had none to spare, nor do I. They are tall but narrow jars. The opening is wide enough to put things in though.

Could you store rice or spaghetti or something in them? I want to re arrange all my cabinets..Maybe on a rainy day or something. That would be something useful to do.

I have some expired soups (that I know of) in my pantry. I'm sure there's other things that are all the way in the back that have also expired. Now that September is here my goal is to slowly stock up on stuff that isn't perishable in case we have a bad winter. You sound like a busy bee already this morning.

The den has a lot of tinned cans that I need to look through. Some I just haven't been able to get to and so I haven't bothered. That will probably be a project for another day. I'm also planning on stocking up every week just to be on the safe side.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'm really hoping that we don't go through another winter with it being difficult to get things. It's bad enough prices keep increasing
