It may be a cold one

I have been noticing for about a week that it seems the cats are getting thicker fur. It is not cold yet. Weather is still quite warm in the daytime, and moderate at night but the Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting a cold winter so I hear. I am ready. I have boots and flannel shirts and wooly socks, and coats and jackets. I have cuddly kitties, too. Are you ready for the seasons to change?

For the moment the cats are still shredding fur, no changes here.

@marlina The maximum temperature during the sunny day is now around 26º C, it is colder, but the cats are still shredding.

I don't mind it getting a little cooler. Not too sure I'm ready for the freezing weather of winter. Hopefully it's not too cold this year.

I'm always prepared for a cold winter, here in Michigan. My Grandpa use to religiously follow the Old Farmer's Almanac, it was usually right on target.

Yes, Michigan has quite the winters. My husband spent most of his growing up years in the Upper Peninsula.

What I have noticed is that the Farmers almanac seems to predict that every year.. Actually not quite true. They say our winter will be wet and "flaky." What does that mean, snowflakes every day with no measurable snow?

Not sure what that would mean, maybe not so cold. I am just going by what the internet is telling me.

@snowy22315 Although we had an early snow, the rest of it seemed warmer than usual last year.

@GardenGerty I noticed a lot of wooly caterpillars last year. However, last winter was fairly typical here, we didn't really have temp extremes.

My daughter says Lady is one of the furriest cats she has ever seen. Angel has long hair but it is more silky and not so poofy as Lady.

@gardengerty We’re luxuriating under soft, warm, gentle rain. It’ll be a warming autumn I do believe, and Ireland never really too cold. My wife disagrees.

where I live there are only rainy seasons and summers, so when the rainy season comes I feel happier, because I prefer winter to summer. When the rainy season comes, I will faithfully sit by the window while watching the rain pouring down on the earth
