Scissor crazy hairdressers

Tomorrow morning I am going to have my hair cut. I am always nervous about this as my previous hairdressers have been scissor happy and I have ended with shorter hair than I like.
I have a new man now who has so far cut no shorter than I asked. This time I only require a trim. Usually I make the appointment at the last minute because I know I am likely to change my mind, so I do not allow myself enough time to cancel the appointment.
I had a long term hairdresser some years ago who cut just as much as was needed but she does not live near me now. I am hoping for the best tomorrow.

I have noticed that too. My previous hairdresser liked to experiment with different styles and she said each one suited me. But they did not. I always came home and washed out the style and hoped my hair would grow quickly again.

The only time I had my hair done in the USA this is what I did as soon as I was back at my hotel, wash my hair and pray for a fast grow.

@RebeccasFarm My Italian hairdresser was a very nice guy, in Milan it was not common to see a woman cutting other women hair, this is was something you only encountered in small villages and in the south. In the south men did not want that their women went to a male hairdresser.
I did my Mom's hair and I also dyed her hair, I also cut my husband's hair, this is something I loved to do during all my life. I often also cut my own hair.

Good luck with your trim. I've had bad haircuts from men and women hairdressers... If someone does a bad job, I don't go back to them and tell others not to let them cut their hair. My daughter and I have been patronizing a woman for almost 20 years now. She does an excellent job and always listens to what we want before she touches our hair.

When I lived in a village in England the local hairdresser was very good. She knew how I liked my hair and she kept it in good shape.

@41CombedaleRoad When you find a good hairdresser, it's hard if you have to go to someone else.

It would seem that a hairdresser who wanted a return customer would not cut too much off. Cutting it too short would mean longer between cuts.Or it could mean losing a customer. So it makes no sense for them to cut too short.

That is the way they should look at it but I think some hair dressers don't know when to stop cutting. I agree with Lady Duck and prefer a man to cut my hair now.

Oh. I hope that your trim will be successful tomorrow. Same here, not all hairdressers are good in following instructions. That`s why I always bring a picture of the haircut style I want.

I have not had my hair cut since 2019, I am uncomfortable with the way the pandemic seems to be going so I will wait longer.

Maybe I will check out one that I am familiar with next month, I really need a hair cut.

I waited for months before going to the hairdressers for the same reason. I was reassured however when I did go because everyone was wearing a mask and only three people allowed in the salon at the same time. I felt safe.

Thank you. I shall explain as well as I can and keep my eyes on the mirror.

The problem for some people is that their hair grows very slowly, so if they have had a bad cut they are stuck with it for months.

It turned out very well, the hairdresser was careful and considerate. I am pleased I had it cut now.

My life long relationship with hair stylists has been a love/hate kind of thing. It's usually not their fault, I have just enough natural curl that it seldom does what I want! Best wishes, I know how you feel.

I have a slight curl too, the problem is that one side of my head is almost straight so the style is never going to look good. I use hair spray to control the side that tends to curl and try to lift the straight part on a curler for a little while. That helps.

@41CombedaleRoad You look pretty in your photo. I can relate, though, my little bit of curl in certain areas also comes with a cowlick and swirls. Just impossible.

I lived close to the village hairdresser 15 years ago and she knew that I was likely to change my mind and always fitted me in whenever I called. My problem was that I really wanted to grow my hair longer but it suited my face better when it was short. so I was torn between two choices.

I only get my hair cut in the Spring and a family friend is my hairdresser.

So no problems for you and I expect your hair is very long.
