More incentive to establish a garden

We stayed with Vince’s brother on Saturday night. His daughter had a barbecue for her 48th birthday and we had an enjoyable time there. I gave her a number of single-bed sheets that I can no longer use. She and her husband have four boys and a small house so, unlike many of the kids I know, they have single beds rather than double. Vince’s brother recently lost his wife so I came home with a lot of wool that I’ll make into beanies or somesuch. They’ll be given to a charity. My BIL has a really pretty garden with a lot of natives but also a lot of flowering annuals. Also hiding in the garden was a rabbit. It seems he has escaped from somewhere and doesn’t have a home so he roams the neighbourhood. I thought he was cute but it seemed he does a bit of damage in the garden and his visits aren’t really appreciated.

@JudyEv I watched a young bunny hopping around my garden a few years ago. It got curious and hopped over to the marigold. One sniff and it was gone on a hard run

@wolfgirl569 Isn't that odd? That it should take off like that.

@JudyEv We do not have bandicoots, but there are moles here, they can damage most plants.

There are native bandicoots (quendas) that visit at night too and make little diggings everywhere - usually under his most precious plants.

The garden plants look nice. Tell your brother-in-law to plant marigolds along the fence or where ever the rabbit is coming in at. Rabbits don't like the smell of marigolds.

Someone else said that and that's a great idea. I will certainly tell him but he will need to get it out of the garden first; otherwise he'll just be hemming it in. lol

He is already annoyed at the little native bandicoots (quendas) which keep digging little holes here, there and everywhere.

@just4him The wild ones look quite different and the ears don't flop but some of the pet breeds have erect ears. It's probably the different colour that makes the difference. Our wild rabbits look like yours.

Pretty flowers and rabbits. Your sheet comment has me thinking about my mom. She was breaking into a sweat trying to put a sheet on the bed, when she realized it was a full sized sheet and they have a queen bed. Now that sounds like something I would do..

I break out in a sweat too from time to time. I have a sheet which really ought to fit but it is a major effort each time. Maybe it has just shrunk a fraction. When I was growing up there were no fitted sheets but they make making a bed so much easier.
