Update on my latest fight

So I had posted how the insurance agent was pestering me to make him the beneficiary under my policy and I was struggling to hold back my temper, which I eventually did lose. I had tried explaining why I would not consider him. Apparently, he has realized. This morning he was apologetic and extremely polite. So I continued with him. He sure needs the business, and I sure have loads of policies on which he possibly gets half a month's home expenses as commission. Either that, or realization that it was not a nice thing to do. Whatever, all is well. Thanks for your support. You all are great...I vent, and you all expect nothing from me. Love you all. Hugs.

I think I must not be understanding something. Why would an insurance agent even suggest they be your beneficiary? That sounds like a scam - big time.

I was buying an insurance term coverage for roughly 65000 USD. Idea was to provide for whoever is gonna help me pay my old age home bills, health insurances etc. The agent decided he is the right candidate to be the beneficiary and pestered me to make him beneficiary saying he will arrange for everything, he knows folks who will give home care, etc. I explained that I don't need that kinda thing as I am going to old age home, finally I blew it, said how dumb can you be, if I can open the door to let in the person to look after me, and cook for the person, I can take care of me. This is for if and when I am on bed.

I hope it is not the commission but realization that has changed him.

You should not take policies through him and should find out some other agent. You should avoid such greedy people.

@sjvg1976 That amount is subject to my parent living that long. It may be lower if my parent and I fail to survive that long.

Apparently. Hopefully, this will not be repeated with another person who is in my predicament. And this lesson will also be passed on to children.

@LadyDuck True. I am a nasty one. I could call him dumb. Another person may be too nice and suffer in silence.

I do NOT understand how can anyone (not from your family or your confidante) can EVER presume to even think that you will make them your beneficary???? What is wrong with people? What link does he have with you to be so presumptious? The audacity of him!!!

That is how my world is. Latest on the list, kiddo's mom. Do I have to go around telling everybody, I have created trusts? She was kinda ..upset that I have no feelings for her daughter. Rather surprising actually. But with the way dowries are going at this end, I guess everybody wants a godmother.

@Daljinder Of course, I cannot even do that. I have taken huge helps from a few people in my life. After I am gone, they will have to get their share. That is why the trusts. But the paternal grandma of the little girl held a meeting in the lobby to tell other flat owners and tenants that I am not allowing her in, as if my house is public property. She asked me will you be writing properties to the poor? Really? LOL. Indirect way to confirm whether her grand children would inherit anything. The mother of the children... she kept on saying, you are not showing any interest in us. Is it obligatory? Pony can enjoy the company of little ones. My fun with kids comes at a price.

@vandana7 Please I request do not fund anyone's dowries. Its pretty much like encouraging the horrible practice. It is your money. You earned it. What contribution did they have? Its your decision whether you donate it or throw it down the drain. I suppose they don't understand "Mind your own business". This is not Public property lol
