New cushions for our new bench

We went to Ikea a day or two ago and bought two cushions for our new bench. You can see these in the photo. They will add to our comfort when we sit outside reading. I was surprised at how cheap they were. We were also looking at mattresses and small wardrobes/cupboards. We have a magazine called Choice which is an independent organisation and reviews all sorts of appliances and products. It is a well-respected site and gave Ikea mattresses a good wrap. We need a mattress for the bed in our spare room. It can only be a maximum of 300cm deep as it is a vertical bed. Once it’s finished I’ll show you photos of it but it isn’t quite ready yet.

@judyev those cushions I think would be necessary unless you have enough natural padding to sit on. Now for the bed - vertical? Is it a Murphy bed?

Yes, it's a Murphy bed but I didn't know they were called that.

@xFiacre I didn't know that until I was trying to find a clip of one used in a comedy and I found this

Not now. We were about to fix the legs on and put too much pressure on it and the plugs pulled out of the wall. I have the bruises to prove it. So it's flat on the floor at the moment. Today we're fixing bigger, stronger and more plugs.

Those look just like the cushions we have in our wooden dining room chairs. Of course, ours are old now so aren't as pretty as yours are. They're still really comfortable. I look forward to seeing the vertical bed. I've heard of them but never seen one.

The cushions look good really and the Velcro straps keep them in place.

@JudyEv I agree, they do look really good. And ours don't have velcro straps. Ours tie around the spindle on the chair.

@DaddyEvil That's just as effective. You find Velcro everywhere nowadays. It's very handy but sometimes it sticks to stuff you don't want it to.

now that makes that cool bench even cooler! it is a side by side bench now! A place to sit, and watch the world go by, together!

Or, if we don't sit side by side, there is room for us to be beside ourselves.

@vandana7 There are some countries where they bury people vertically because there is no flat ground.

Some of the items in Ikea are incredibly good value. I bought two box-type affairs that fit nicely within shelves and they were only $5 each.

Before I read your post I looked at the cushions and said to myself, those look like the same Ikea cushions that I buy, and now I see that is exactly what they are. Ikea sure gets around lol

The cushions work well with the bench. It is a lovely bench, but I don't think it would be too comfortable to sit on without them.
