Wondering why I keep getting expensive obstacles thrown in my way?You know I have been talking about moving for a long time, well everytime I get serious about it, something happens to seriously deplete my cash,,and it is like everything breaks in a row. Now, the latest travesty is that my well pump is quite probably going to to need to be replaced, and that is major money. It may well be over 2,000 dollars. It is really discouraging to run into one obstacle or another in pursuit of your goals. I could say the universe doesn't want me to move, but I don't think God or whatever superior building would want me to stay in an area I am not fond of in the least. I don't want to grow old and die here. I could try to find a "regular" job but don't want to deal with people honestly. I just don't have the patience for it anymore. Sigh! Is it too much to ask that a major appliance or system just stay working until I can get my butt out of here? My lament..

I hope you have some years ahead that you wont have to put out big money like this and can get the heck out of there.

I am very impatient. I really am going to be unhappy if I am stuck here another summer. We will see what comes down the pike where there is a will there is a way. I mean there are worse places to be this is a nice house, but I am just sick of being here. Dont say years, I have been here too many years..already!

@snowy22315 Okay I wont say years..if you can get out of there then do!! It is sad to think all the money you are having to sink into the place if you dont want it.

@RebeccasFarm I know...it really is, but you know the way things are now..nothing seems to last much beyond 15 years.

May be someone up there is telling you that moving now is not a good idea.

That is what seems to be happening honestly. I don't know why I would be forced to stay here, unless I am supposed to be learning some kind of "lesson." it isn't that I am ungrateful really, just tired of this.

@snowy22315 I can very well understand that you are tired of this. Sometimes I want to convince myself that things happen for a reason.

I'm facing a similar problem too. Since the last 6 years we have been planning to move to another area. But I don't think we will ever be able to now. I got sick and we had to spend so much money unfortunately

There seems to always be something that comes up to thrwart your plans. I don't know..I could possibly arrange the finances so I could buy a summer place in my home area..for the summer. The summer is the worst.

@snowy22315 I get you. We live in the wettest region and be it in summer or winter we are affected by the rains

I feel for you Snowy, It does seem as if it's Murphys Law when you decide to move. Would you get back that money for the well pump in your selling price? It really does sound as if you are ready to move. I hope it works out for you and that you can find a place that would make you happier. Would you stay in the same area?

No, I plan on moving somewhere cooler. I don't know Marilyn. It has to be done. We need to have water obviously. Maybe the well pump would help me get a better selling price. Every little bit helps.

@Marilynda1225 Well, I like having no water bill, but it's no good if you have to lay out big bucks for a repair.

@snowy22315 I hope you can find a place you love especially if you're fed up with where you are. Somewhere cooler like year round colder temps? I'm glad I don't have to deal with a well and a pump. Thankfully here we have city water

Home ownership is a money pit. I hope your can move sooner than later. Our pump estimate was $3500. We don’t need it yet

I just talked to someone today who said it sounds like the pressure tank. Still expensive..but considerably less. I sure hope he is right.

This is the reason I no longer own or want to own a home, just rent. I can afford payments, but when you own you are responsible for everything, and I don't have the funds for upkeep such as roof, new appliances, major repairs like you are facing. I have a great landlord with a great Mr. Fix-It...when the central AC went down, it was July 3 and 100 degrees, someone was there and had it going within a few hours. I don't want to go back to having to worry about fix up money, I have enough on my plate. Heck, fix it and put it up for sale, life is short!

I don't want to live by somebody else's rules. Besides rents these days at least in this state are astronomical. It is cheaper to buy honestly. We will see what the well pump ends up costing. I need a certain dollar amount to be able to move where I want.

It always seems that when we save money for one thing, 30 other things come along to take that money. I know well pumps are costly, I hope you can get it taken care of. I wish you well in looking and finding somewhere you'll hopefully be happier in.

Thanks, if only things would stop breaking or requiring maintenace..it would be much easier to make a plan and stick to it. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't happening one after another.

Hoping soon you can get out and be happy. Life is like that unfortunately. I remember those days when I could not see daylight.
