We will be leaving pretty soon

Last Thursday the Fusion chewed up a belt. The alternator light came on. So hubby went and got a belt, then decided he could not do it himself. When he decided this, it was Saturday evening. Our mechanic also runs a wrecker service, so he came and got the car Sunday. That is why I ended up missing church, we had to be here. It should be ready to pick up any time. He replaced the tensioner and the belt. Whatever that means. I probably will not be back here tonight, so have a good one. My notifications are all done.

If done at the right time it would save a lot of headaches and repairs.

@GardenGerty I just follow instructions in manual books, and sometime garage call to reminder for regular maintenance.

Well, belts do need some freedom to do their job, but can't be loose either. So yeah. It's good to replace everything so the belt doesn't wear out too soon.

Yes, the mechanic said the tensioner usualy goes bad and that is why the belt gets ruined.

@GardenGerty Sounds about right. I don't pretend to know a lot about what's under the hood, but my husband used to work as a michinic f for Dodge in high school, and he knows a thing or two about those things.

Have a good night. (I know how to do some car repairs but changing belts isn't in my skill set.)

@DaddyEvil You would fit right in, except he is not chunky. He is thin and arthritic. It hurts.

He used to work as a mechanic. All he really does now is routine stuff like oil changes and tire pressures.

@GardenGerty Oh, I see... I don't blame him. I'm getting too chunky to crawl under a car to do anything unless it's on a lift and looking up for very long makes me dizzy.

It is good that you (should by now) have the car back. Hopefully, the mechanic's bill wasn't too painful.

Is Fusion a dog ? If so ,a dog collar may keep it from doing it next time.

@GardenGerty We were very lucky with our previous cars. We had a Ford during 19 years and never had problems.

It's getting more and more difficult to work on your own cars.
