Colours on the shelves

I wrote recently about a ‘soap cage’ which was in a shop that had all sorts of alternative items plus a lot of herbs, spices, flours, oils and other cooking ingredients in bulk. You could package up what you wanted, take it to the counter and you’d be charged by the weight of the item. There were containers for the different products or you could take your own.
I thought this was a great idea but what I really liked was the different colours in the jars of grains, legumes and cereals. It was a fascinating shop and if I lived there, I’d be buying all sorts of ingredients there.
And I’m posting this on top of the previous one as I forgot to say we’ll be away for about ten days now taking photos and my time here will be very limited. I always say that but quite often I still manage to come here and interact a little. Now, if I would get to and learn to use my phone I could do a lot more! Take care everyone.

if you go to an old Apothecary in the US, they were like that. so cool!!!!

I thought you were going to tell us you and Vince had finally gotten your kitchen set up the way you wanted it.

Many Italian grocery stores now offer this kind of products. You package yourself only the quantity you need.
You can go with your container and also fill it up with liquid soap, washing machine soap and many other different products. i think it's a good idea.

There are a few natural foods stores I've shopped that are like that. I don't know how common that setup is outside of the U.S., though.

@JudyEv There are some I've shopped that are supermarkets with a natural focus; those aren't especially niche. Others (ones I think of as "old school"), though, focus more on herbs and supplements and attract a fairly small collection of dedicated customers; those typically are in smaller areas where there has historically been less support of eating healthfully.
