I lit my cat on fire!

I was checking my morning email, sipping coffee and smoking my first f*g of the day. While reading, I casually dropped my left hand, holding the cig, toward the floor. It contacted something soft. I knew nothing was there, so I looked down immediately. It was Kitty, with a burning ember on her back, near where her tail connects. I immediately petted her hard, sweeping the ember off of her back. Damn retractable claws. She is now sleeping near my Fishman guitar amplifier. Her thick Winter coat protected her. Have you ever lit your cat on fire?

My longhaired black cat once singed her tail when she sat down next to a lit candle on my dresser. What an awful smell.

I didn't smell any burning kitty hair. I was relieved about that. Was your kitty OK? Did she do some extra grooming where she got singed? My kitty did not.

I extinguished the flames before Kitty even noticed. I take pride in my reaction time.

We had one stick her tail in the fire last week and catch it. Thankfully hubby was right there and grabbed her tail.

@TheHorse A fire in the fire pit. You would have thought she would have stayed a little farther away from it

Not actually but one Christmas when the punch bowl was set on the table and the candles were lit our first cat a female named Cha Cha had jumped on the table and when we returned to the room one of her whiskers was smoking but she was all right

That made me chuckle for some reason. The smoking whisker, I mean.

Glad that you realised it in time. Once I was holding incense sticks in my hands when my younger daughter came crawling on to my back. She was eight months old. I turned in a reflex action to help her and the incense stick touched her thigh. Luckily only her baby suit got burnt and a small hole. Her skin was safe.

I have only tried burning some old photographs. The era when I was fat... very fat actually... the photographs burn very fast. It terrified me..and the blessed thing flew and fell, but I was safe as usual. Pity that fat has returned with vengeance... and I cannot burn it away.

Let's just say that some things just should never happen and some things are not jokes. Would you find it funny if I told you that I had lit my human toddler on fire? So my answer is no.

@TheHorse I'm trying to remember. I don't think so. Daughter did climb up onto hubby's chair when she was small. She fell and blacked her eye. Us adults were a tad stupid. The next day we went to a doughnut shop with daughter. A couple of elderly ladies loudly whispered about what happened to daughter.

Kitty is fine. But I was traumatized for a second. Have you actually had a toddler get to near the fire?
