How The Horse made $4000 on an investment.

I traded my Martin 000-18 guitar for a Collings OM-1 several years ago. I had bought the Martin for $2000.
Collings is an elite American manufacturer of guitars, and their guitars appreciate substantially in value each year.
A new Collings OM-1 can go for $6500 now. My OM-1 is my "gigging guitar." It has aftermarket electronics in it, and sounds good acoustic or amplified.
It has a few dings here and there that might decrease its value a bit. But it's still cool to know that I made a good investment.
This is a keeper, though, so the "fortune" I've made will go to whoever is in my will when I leave this mortal coil.
Do you have "stuff" that's worth a lot that you'd never part with?

My husband has a few coloctables from his childhood he thinks are worth a lot. No way to really know, though.

@TheHorse I think that's true for most things.

@kaylachan I also check online to see what my vintage stereo gear is worth. Lust for fun, I'll see what my Fisher X-100B tube integrated amplifier is worth right now. Probably more than $500.

Nothing of that kind of value. I used to sell my CDs. I was happy for whatever I could get for them.

@TheHorse - My husband was the one with a huge collection. When he passed away I gave the CDs to one of my sons, as a keepsake. My other son got the video tapes and another one got the cassette tapes.
I kept the vinyl records..

@cmoneyspinner Some vinyl records can be worth some serious cha-ching.

@TheHorse A diamond ring. The diamond ring that my father offered to me. When my brother turned 18 and got his driver license he asked for a car. My Dad told me that if I had to ask for a gift of the same value (no discrimination in my family). I wanted nothing, he decided to offer me a diamond. My Dad was a wonderful man.

@TheHorse I really don't have anyone to leave them to. My two friends are about the same age as me; and I don't feel close enough to my husband's cousins and second cousins to leave it to them. I suppose the charities that I have stated in my will will receive their share of my possessions.

Things are worth only whatever anyone is willing to pay for them, and no one wants to buy any of my stuff. Except for house flippers who think they can make a fortune on my little home.

Yes, we talked about the painting I was given years and years ago...
I'm glad you made a good deal in your swapping...
