I'm celebrating early

Seeing my doctor in next year in Feb. Blood draw too in February. Thus, celebrating early, so as to get better numbers on my blood draw. Today, got my fruitcake from Safeway which is a good sugar number for fruitcake. I misunderstood the numbers, when I researched it, total sugar for a pound of Safeway Premium Fruitcake is just - , in the ingredients at Safeway.com. I couldn't resist Pepperidge Farm's ginger man & chocolates!

I suppose there had to be someone who would eat fruitcake... You're the first person I've ever seen admit they'll put it in their mouth. (Most people, after being given one, will give it to someone else the next year. Not that I've ever done that... as far as you know. )

Those Gingerbread Pepperidge Farm cookies are delicious aren't they!! I haven't had fruitcake in many years and am probably one of the few who actually does eat it.

@marlina Same as you, those bought in stores are too sweet and too heavy.

@LadyDuck when it comes to fruitcake I only like homemade too. When my children were young I made one every year. Haven't made one in ages but back then it was a holiday tradition

@LadyDuck Ok. But I'm not much of a baker, so I buy hoping to find a healthier moist one.

That's a good idea to have all the sugary food now well ahead of your blood tests.

Many people think I'm crazy for not liking strawberries and blueberries, and they think I'm even crazier for loving fruitcake. But that is by far my favorite dessert of the holiday season. And the fruitcake I make and eat is gluten-free.

Homemade, the best. I'm not much of a baker, so I buy. Never mind about others, just eat what makes you happy & healthy.

Fruitcake is traditionally heavy like a rum cake with fruit & nuts for holidays.
