Today is my son's birthday.....

He may be a grown man with kids of his own but he will always be my baby boy. I am so proud of him. He is a hardworking man with a good job who provides well for his family. He is an awesome dad to his two boys and a great husband. He has a big heart and would do anything for anybody. I love being a grandma but I miss my kids being young. Their childhood years went by so quickly. Wish I could have kept them little just a little while longer. I really struggled when he moved out. Empty nest syndrome is real. For those on here with little ones enjoy every moment you have with him and treasure these times because they will pass in the blink of an eye. Those whose children are adults now, did you suffer Empty Nest Syndrome when the last one moved out?

I suffer Empty Kindergarten Syndrome when my little friends get big (five). One of my best girlfriends (I've known her since she was 1 1/2) is now four, and I can tell she's already ready for Kindergarten. I will miss her when she moves on.

What a precious little fella! I think I kind of just slid into the empty nest thing. It was extremely hard when our daughter got pregnant and married at 17. Letting her be a "married mother" so young was emotionally devastating. But that grandbaby has been such a blessing to our family. She and our daughter lived with us for a while when the marriage didn't work out (no surprise.) So when our daughter and baby eventually moved out on their own, they were still nearby. You're blessed to have a wonderful family. We are, too, even through some heartaches.

At what age did you take your child's photo? Indeed childhood moments of children should not be missed it is very important and sometimes will be a very beautiful memory in the future.

@Happy2BeMe You'd have to ask him. Not since he left..but we do talk sometimes. It sucks that he is there.

What a beautiful photo, happy birthday to your son. I have no children, but I know that mom was devastated when I got married, I was only 20. Dad was also sad.

What really surprised me, my daughter moved out first. She was my rebellious child, who thought she deserved a much better life. Chad my son, he moved out three times, he was insecure and afraid he could never manage on his own. Now, both of them are doing beautifully. They're happily married and two of my best friends. Both of them view those growing up years, as a time that 'mother' did her best, to raise them by herself. Yes, the Empty Nest Syndrome hit hard, I felt abandoned and without purpose. Now, I realize this isn't true.

@Happy2BeMe Jay said, 'Honey, you should be happy the kids are out on their own!' He didn't understand why this made me feel depressed. It's a mother thing, something that men don't go through.

@kobesbuddy I agree with that. Most men dont get it but I remember my Dad would be very upset everytime each one of us left home.

Happy Birthday to your son. He was such a cute little guy. We felt the empty nest syndrome. I am glad that we got thru that period and when we downsized we moved up here to be close to him and his wife and soon the twins. Kids grow up so quickly, but we will always hold tight to the precious memories of their childhood.
