Get up, get dressed

I know that in the US, and in this time frame, we are blessed with an abundance of many things including clothing choices. I think of the pioneers and how they might have had a set of work clothes and a set of "good clothes", or even in our century where kids came home from school, took off their school clothes and either put on their "chore clothes" or "play clothes" which might be the same thing. I try to save certain clothes to wear to work. They have to be comfortable for my pleasure and at least be presentable for working in. I have to have comfortable and supportive shoes as well. On the weekend, if I know I am staying home all day, I might wear clothes that are looking a little worse for the wear. Still, have to be comfortable. If I might go somewhere, I make other choices. Sometimes I try out clothing combinations to see if they will also work for my job at school. Sometimes I just do not care. Sundays, I wear "church clothes"and if I am going to be worship leader/song leader I dress up a little more. So it is Saturday. I have chores to do here at home, but I might go shopping later, so I am dressed nicely enough and I will wear an apron over my clothes to help them stay nice. Some people never have to make any of those clothing decisions, and I guess if I had a lot of comfortable jeans I would not either, I would wear them most of the time. But I do not.

I just hang on to things and repurpose them.If I get "new" clothes it is often from the thrift shop.

I really love to dress up all day. Why? To wear all my unused clothes that's all

I remember those days of school clothes and play clothes. I remember the days when I worked and had work clothes and dress clothes. Today, I'm retired. I like to look nice every day, so my work clothes, dress clothes, church clothes, shopping clothes are all the same. My worse for wear football shirt is my good luck shirt. Its sleeves are a bit tattered, but I wear it on football Sunday. Today is not football Sunday, so that shirt is in the drawer until next week. Today, because it's cold and snowing, I'm dressed nicely in a warm sweater and turtleneck. Thanks for the memories.

Certain things just make us feel comfortable and festive. Your football shirt helps you "celebrate" your team.

I do not really remember it so much with me, or with my kids.My friend and her family lived on a farm and her kids had "chore clothes" that they kept in the laundry and mud room for after school. She sent them to a private Christian school and they had to dress pretty nice for that.

Wow that is interesting way to look at it. I too keep "around the house", "going out/casual", "going out/fun" and "going out/dressy" seperate

Sometimes I use a casual weekend day to audition a combination to decide if it will work for work. Like this Saturday I did that.

That is a number one requirement for me. It is a bonus if it is comfortable and has pockets.

I have garden clothes that I wear until they fall apart, and I have "decent" clothes that I wear when I'm out in polite company. I've gotten past "good" clothes because I don't go anywhere anymore where it would matter. Today, I'm sticking to nightie and wooly socks.

I am not usually one to hang out in my nighty very often.I do have an assortment of bed socks, not wooly, but they are cozy.

Comfort is most important and as for shoes they also need to be supportive. I have a couple decent looking jeans and a few decent looking shirts IF I decided to go to the store for something. I'd never want to be one of those wally world shopper wonders.

No, and I hear that the manufacture of fabric and clothing is a big contributor to the landfills.

I really like leggings. Jeans I will wear, but I am not so fond of. I blame that on the fact my mom did not think girls should wear jeans.

Do you dress pretty formally, like with a suit, or just something like a collared shirt and khakis?

I dress much the same as you do. Some of my oldest working clothes I wouldn't wear here as you never know when you might meet someone or be seen in your garden.

I mostly just purchase used clothes. You are right, that "shopper's high" does not last.
