How will you ring in the New Year?

This year I will ring in the New Year at an Italian restaurant. Have never done that before.
There will a DJ and live music there. There will also be an open bar. Not sure what that means exactly.
The menu will include one appetizer, a pasta duet, one main course, one dessert, and tea or coffee beverages—cappuccino, espresso, etc. For good luck, they will serve lentil soup at midnight.
This thing runs from 8:30pm to 1:30am. It costs $250/person. I’m sure that doesn’t include tax or tip.
I’ve been to this restaurant before and it’s really good. Hubby’s cousin who asked us if we wanna join him and his family there said we won’t be carded. Hope that will be the case.

I've never been to a thing like that before. First time for me. So can't say if price is too high or reasonable. Of course, would have been better if it was cheaper.

@JimBo452020 You can pay nothing if you stay home or go to someone's home. If you go out you have to pay.

@JimBo452020 yeah, seems like a lot of hoopla for just another day.

I usually go to bed at my regular time and then someone wakes me up shooting off fireworks for a few minutes at midnight. I either play on myLot for a while or try to go back to sleep.

Sounds like fun. I think an open bar means you get free drinks all night or it would be deemed a cash bar. Hope you have a blast! Do you have a designated driver? We will stay home and have a nice meal. Maybe standing rib or tenderloin and crab cakes.

No designated driver. Hubby is the driver.

I hope open bar doesn't mean free drinks all night.

We've done that the past few years. Would be nice to do something different.

@lovebuglena I would not mind going out on that night, but I want to go where there is not a lot of people. I do not like big crowds.

Enjoy. As usual, eve, lots of cooking, eating watching TV, ready with noise makers made of dried beans. Little drum was my Mom's, she got it one Chinese New Years...makes a nice sound.

Similarly to last year: watching live streaming cameras from places like Times Square, Key West, and the French Quarter in New Orleans.
Hopefully this year WITHOUT the covid that I had last year.

Hopefully, no covid for you!
It just hit me that since I won't be ringing in the New Year at home I won't get to see the ball drop in Times Square.
