What have you changed because of the pandemic?

Apart from the obvious things - not going out to big venues, not travelling as much, no foreign holidays etc. - the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a few unforeseen changes for me. One of those has been that I have started to wear more make-up! This is quite unexpected because previously I didn’t usually bother to wear any, unless I looked in the mirror and thought I looked particularly scary. Sometimes I would put a bit of concealer over a spot or maybe splash out on a bit of lipstick to add a bit of colour. But of course there’s no point bothering with lipstick if you’re wearing a mask. And when a large part of your face is hidden behind a mask, especially if it’s a brightly-coloured one, and you also have pale-coloured skin and hair, it can look as though the rest of your face has just kind of faded away. So it has made me re-evaluate my thoughts about make-up and in particular the importance of making the eyes more noticeable. As a result I’ve been playing around with different effects. I’ve even been watching YouTube make-up tutorials and have fished out the things I haven’t used for ages, in some cases never used. I might not be going out much, but when I do go out I want to look as though I am actually there! Have you found yourself making any unexpected changes? That makes sense you would wear makeup so people can see you. I don't know if I've made any changes. I'm pretty much a homebody. I only go to the pool, shopping, or church. It's senseless to wear makeup to the pool. I feel the same about shopping, though I know there are people who wouldn't leave the house without makeup.

Yes, I even know people who do wear waterproof make-up to get in the water! But in general it's not something I bother with on most days.

Opposite for me - I have worn less make-up (I only wear eye make up now). I've become better about cleaning . . . but that was because we were able to stay at home most days .

My biggest change is that I shop more at Safeway and less at Trader Joe's now. Trader Joe's had linger lines when the pandemic started, and I've stuck with the new habits I developed then.

You never know, the masked man serving at the cafe in Waterstones on Friday had definitely adopted eye-liner.

@Fleura In my favourite Sci Fi novel, the men all wear make up, as well

@Ronrybs Men wearing make-up always makes me think of these people:
Make-up and flirting. But the tables are turned at the Wodaabe people's pageants - men dress up, women pick the winners.

Nope. Not one bit. I don't wear masks, I don't alter my behavior, I'm not up-to-date on the news. It's a virus, just like any other one we've faced. Not worth changing my lifestyle over.

I haven't really changed much, I was somewhat of a hermit before 2020 and still am. Oh, I don't wear makeup, usually I'm allergic to what's out there so why bother right?

I have also used make up on my eyes, because I also have a pale coloured skin, dark blonde hair, light green eyes. I also used to wear foundation and I still do

Other than wearing a mask outside the house, not going out to eat and avoiding crowds as much as possible, the only real change is that I'm letting my hair grow out. A friend with cancer asked me to grow it out so she can have it for a wig when it's long enough.

I still wear full makeup in the car without a mask. Glad to have disposable ones. lol I’m basically doing the same things as I always did except going to the gym and volunteering at the library and women’s shelter.

In some ways, we have been so unaffected by COVID that there have been very few differences in our lives. The rest of Australia has not been quite so lucky.
