Have you noticed that when you get to a certain age, age doesn't matter?

I'm off to play some music with my harmonica playing pot-head buddy this evening. He is an 80-year-old retired pharmacist.
We will play music, drink beer, watch the Golden State Warriors basketball team play against the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team, and play some blues.
He is an old athlete, like me. I think he played cornerback on his high school football team. I was one of the best wide receivers in my neighborhood when the teens got together to play (American) football.
He and I are able to look each other in the eye when we talk sports, music, and other things. He's one of my mellowest and most honest friends.
His back problems are worse than mine, and he is hunched over. I brought him a walking stick that my music buddy Mike and I made. I told him I wanted him to use higher and higher marks on the stick so he can straighten his back.
My day at Guitar Center is done. I may have picked up three or four new students. I look forward to relaxing and jamming with my friend.
Have I talked about his dogs and cats? They are our biggest fans.

Sounds like you have a good friend. Although what does this have to do with age?

@TheHorse I supose you're right, but then I tossed out my theroies about age years ago, when I met my husband. There might be a twenty-three-year age gap between us, but if you listened to us talk, you'd never know it.

Awesome! Good you have a friend that you can talk about anything with.
I've had back trouble since I was a kid, but I've done my best to avoid further damaging it. Except I have apparently got a couple of bulging discs in my back that are pinching some nerves in my right leg.
So, his dogs and cats like ya'll music? When I met my friend Maggiepie back in 1976 she had a tabby cat named Zucchini who loved music. Zu especially loved when Maggiepie sang. She'd even would chip in a few mews now again.

@TheHorse Some farmers say their cows give better milk when there's nice music playing in the barn. You could hire yourself out as a cow serenader.

I'm glad you have good friends. Dogs and cats are definitely a plus. As far as age goes, I don't get along with people my age that act like people my age. I still think like I'm in my 20s and only feel old physically!

Older people can also get along well, but often they themselves build barriers around them.
I have seen some older people thinking that they have to behave in a manner "x,y or z" to show that they are senior or well, they need to be appeased or flattered by others!
That makes things trickier.

That's kind of the way I feel. My back hurts, but I still do stuff. I forget names and words now and again, but still enjoy a good conversation, or a good musical jam. My Auntie's body was old, especially after she hit 90, but she read all the time, and stayed sharp until she passed away at 95.

i bet the dogs and cats loved the music!
I remember years ago, there was a poetry reading in college. One of the poets read a poem about: where do athletes go when their time is done?" that line stuck with me, and today, you reminded me of it!

I've always had friends older and younger than I am. It never really made a difference to me.

@TheHorse Even when I was twelve, I had older and younger friends. When you live a hundred miles from the closest city, you take whatever friends you can get.

Well, at times, people of other age groups become our closest buddies. Often I talk to people 15 to 16 years younger on office audio calls.
Plus I even had some 15-20 years younger folks as my offline friends as well (Pre-Pandemic times).
As for the Dogs and cats, you could have shared their pictures as well.
Time well spent !

Pharmacist has retirement too ?
I thought you usually own the medical shop and you run it until your kids are ready to take over
Since many things are common between you two, that's the reason you have formed a good bond
One of my friend said me - "Age is a number..." Meaning - Don't relate age with your happiness, your problems and what you like to do.
And I am pretty sure he copied it from an old Movie which I don't know

I do not think so.
