Got my Christmas Bonus today...that made my day!

I was quite excited when I checked out my pay for this week and noticed that there was a nice Christmas bonus added to it. I don't get paid until Friday but I get my statement in my email today. I have Friday off so I may just go out and treat myself.
The only sad part about is that I lost almost half of it to taxes but you know the government has to take their share of my Christmas bonus. Oh well it is what it is..whether we like it or not but I am happy with the extra that I did get.
How is your day going? Those who work do you get a Christmas bonus?

Wow! That is a great news although Taxes do dampen our earnings and the accompanying joy!

I think the bonus should be non-taxable or taxed at the lowest rate.
However, here they add the bonus to the total taxable income.
That makes overall income to a higher tax slab and then we get more than anticipated tax.

So the calculation methods differ. We have a standard deduction which could be something used in some other countries as well.

Congratulations! 
Luckily Mylot doesn't charge taxes at source, though I have to pay taxes for amount I am holding into bank for a financial year

We don't get any bonus working on Holidays. Only difference is - I can ask for Comp off. next week

Congratulations! I never worked anywhere where I got a Christmas bonus, but I have gotten time off at the holidays and that was super!

We never got a bonus for working Christmas but l used to love being around the hospital as it can be very Happy for people who are sick especially being away from their loved ones. I worked 17 years before taking a Christmas off as l used to make sure my staff got the time off. Now l am retired & enjoying my time off!

While I was working, yes I did get a Christmas bonus each year. It was such a blessing!

I usually do not get a bonus. The school board is going to give a bonus to district employees, but technically I am a Special Ed Co op employee, so likely will not get it.

There are bonuses in the university where I'm teaching. It's a government run university. I'm still waiting two bonuses, 2 were released already and no more

My day went in cooking and visiting the doctor and contacting the water connection people as they have stopped the though I have paid the bill in advance.
We don't get any Christmas bonus in India.
