The car went back

Okay, so the problem was the constant velocity axle, it went out. Mechanic took it apart and fixed it. I guess he failed to replace or repair an axle seal. Bob was driving the car, it began to smoke and lost all of its oil. He parked it in the driveway. Our mechanic said "we missed it, did not take care of it, we will come get the car and make it right." So we are still without one car. Keeps me from shopping so much.

"constant velocity axle" Is that really a thing? Sounds like something they made up, or at least something on a space ship.

Not only that, he felt one of our tires was about to blow out, so he put another one on.

Well as my co worker, Earl the bus driver said, it may not have been leaking when we picked up the car. I drove it home, hubby drove to an appointment in one town and then to another town for fuel. All in all we put over one hundred miles on it before the problem showed up.The mechanic brought his wrecker, picked it up, replaced the seal and lubricants, and then, because one tire looked really bad, he put another tire on it for us. No charge.

Both times we have had trouble with the car we have been in a safe and convenient place. Not that we wanted a problem, but it could have been worse.

I hate car issues. So many times it ends up being so much more money spent that we didn't plan on. I recently had a friend dump nearly $2,000.00 on a new AC system for a 2004 car! It's not even worth that much. I tried and tried to tell her....pointed out the value, etc. but she did it anyway. Now she is getting ready to dump even more money into it. Her family is trying to talk her out of it and having no success. I am glad your mechanic admitted they missed the problem and is taking care of it, a good mechanic is a gem in my opinion.

He is great. Your friend sounds in many ways like my husband.

@GardenGerty She always seems to be so sensible about most things, but that car, she keeps saying oh, it's still a good car, etc. Well, that may very well be true, however, pouring large amounts of money in an old car with a ton of miles on it is not the smartest move in my opinion. She can afford another one, and her family are trying to keep her from pouring any more money into that vehicle.

I hope he will fix it well this time. It's a problem being without a car.

@GardenGerty We only have one car now, I do not drive, the second car always needed to have the battery recharged when we used it. Here in Europe it gets very expensive to keep more than one car.

Fixed nicely and back home. We went and got it instead of me making the coffee cake.
