Christmas might be hotter than hot for us this year

We are having Christmas dinner with Vince’s sister and her husband, and will be staying the night. They live about 30 minutes away by car. However, the forecast is for perhaps the hottest Christmas ever for our area. They are saying it could reach 42°C (107.6°F) which is going to be pretty unpleasant. My sister-in-law doesn’t have air-conditioning in the main house although our bedroom does. Maybe we’ll be having Christmas all sitting on the bed. Anyway, we will ring and offer to have them come to us if they’d like to. Our air-conditioner works overtime and has to be turned off from time to time. The technician will come after New Year to look at it. The photo is of our piano dressed up for one of Vince’s photographic challenges.

@Sreekala There are other countries that have a hot Christmas - parts of South Africa, Thailand, Brazil.

It is a bit opposite here in the northern hemisphere as many are in winter and are complaining of the cold spell they experience. For us, in the tropical area where the sun is always shining most of the year a cold wind from the north is a welcome surprise for us to get away for us to feel more comfortable.

@JudyEv Yeah, we all have different challenges when it comes to adapting to our climate. Here in the Philippines weather is a bit acceptable since the cold air from the North brings relief to us here during Christmas time. But it is unfortunate to our Southern Islands as they just had a strong typhoon hitting them so the devastation is a bit unfortunate for them.

I would not move to go there if they have no air conditioning, you risk to get sick with that hot weather. Vince knows how to create an interesting setting.

Lovely antique piano. I'm assuming it's antique because of the built-in candle sconces.

Yes, it is antique. It was built in the 1890s but still plays well and holds its tune.

@JudyEv we had pizza after all because daughter had to work and no one felt like cooking. They hadn't been able to find a ham the day before. But we were happy because at least we had food and so many had none

@bunnybon7 Sometimes I think too much fuss is made about these occasions. If you have food and a roof you have much more than many people just for starters.

@JudyEv It's a worry. News now, 866 on Oahu covid numbers. On a lighter note, found a great pie, Dutch Apple pie made with grape juice, no sugar, but made with corn syrup too. It's in sale, $6, for 8" pie. Found a pint of Organic Ice Cream for just $2.37! Vanilla ala mode Dutch Apple pie and by starting now, gone by day after Christmas.
