Goodbye Boogie....rest in peace.

It's a bright sunny Thursday here with a pleasant weather. The breeze is too cold but then there is a warm sun. . It's 11:40 AM here and my Christmas vacation officially starts from today. The school will reopen on 2nd January. I hope to have a good vacation. Many things kept me away from cyberspace in the month of November and December. And I was away for good reasons. Yesterday was a sad day for us. I got a call from my sister in law about the sudden demise of our beloved German shepherd Boogie. I have mentioned about Boogie in some of my posts and even shared her picture in one of my posts. Boogie was at our native and we would interact with her on video calls. She would beautifully respond to us. We looked forward to those video calls and visiting her and playing with her in our holidays. My husband and daughters were too attached to her. It was an unexpected sudden demise of an eight years old. This is the shortest that any pet has stayed. All our dogs survived more than 17 years. There was no reason to suspect anything wrong with her. She was healthy and happy. But she refused to eat on Tuesday and was a bit dull. She vomited twice on Wednesday morning with lots of bile coming out. By the time she was rushed to vet, she had her last breath on the way. Vet says that she had a bad acidity case. My daughters could not take the news well. My elder one could control herself but younger one cried and sobbed the whole day. It's hard to accept that we won't see Boogie again. Boogie was a friendly German shepherd. She loved to be around children and she would follow my daughters everywhere. Here is a picture of her taken three years back. You can see my daughter with her back. This was one summer project my daughter did in her summer vacation. She took few underprivileged children and taught them some art and craft in the holidays. This picture is from the extra room next to garage at our native home where we set up the art and craft classes. These children were scared of Boogie on the first day but soon became her friend. You can see how comfortable they are and enjoying each other. Boogie will be deeply missed. Rest in peace Boogie. It is heartbreaking to let you go.

@arunima25 Poor Boogie, you are right that he was too young to die. I feel so sorry for the animals who suffer for months, at least Boogie had no pain.

Yes, Anna. The news was a shock and hard hitting. No one saw it coming and so we were not prepared. But glad she went quick and peacefully unlike Topaz, our last pet who struggled for few months with a painful tumor. Boogie was just 8. Too young to go.

Thank you. Glad that she didn't have to suffer too much like Topaz, our 17 years old golden retriever who struggled with a tumor for 5 months.

It's tough to let them go. Topaz left us after 17 years and it has been 7 years but still tough to forget him. I could not go for another pet in my house after him. My children always wanted to but then at least Boogie was there for them in holidays.

Sorry to hear about Boogie's loss. Some fond memories always come back. And it is such a good thing to teach underprivilged kids that can help make them live better lives. Unfortunately I have seen many people who live in slums and have their kids working as helpers from a very early age, but they are not willing to have them educated even when help is offered to them. I can understand how attached your kids would be to Boogie.

Thank you for your comforting words. My husband and I are foster parents to a few orphan children. It gives us a sense of satisfaction. .My elder one has done this as a part of her summer vacation from Grade 6. She could not do it after 10th grade due to covid. Last year, she made some educational videos for a government school here with her few friends. Boogie will be greatly missed. She was special in many ways. German Shepherds are supposed to be fierce and hunting, but she was a total sweetheart. Very friendly and happy around people.

Well, time will heal. I could never had another dog after Topaz left us in 2014. Boogie was at our native and we would visit her in holidays. But we talked to her regularly over video calls and she responded beautifully. It feels like a vaccum now. Time will slowly heal.
