Enjoying the Little Things in Life

Today has been a very peaceful and quiet day. A long time friend called earlier. We had a long talk. Caught up on each other's lives. She is doing well.
Got a few boxes ready for donation. The family that lost their home to fire is still in need of many things.
Cleaned out the bird feeder. They have fresh peanuts for the rest of the day. Thawed out the bird bath. That was fun. But they have clean water.
Cats are sleeping. Enjoying the day. Sunshine makes things even nicer.
Photo is mine. A gift from a friend years ago.

I have been putting out food for the birds this year.
I don't normally do that.
It's been fun to watch them crowd around and get into tussles over the seeds and other treats.
I was about to let dogs out this am and saw several birds on the back steps by the empty dish.
After the dogs were back in, I filled the dish with an assortment of seeds, berries and bread crumbs.
By the time I slid the door shut, several birds were already after the food.
I must have watched them for 15 minutes.
The simple things are sometimes the best things in life

I had forgotten how much fun it was to watch them.
The snow and cold in late December prompted me to help them and I will just keep doing it.
Let's hope the BlueJays stay away lol.

@Vikingswest1 I love seeing the blue jays. I prefer them over the smaller ones. But they are all welcome in the winter. I spend hours watching them.

I had to keep the dogs in all day, except for some quick trips outside yesterday. This morning it was still cold, but with all the sunshine, and plenty of places to sun in. There was no wind either, it was cold, but not as cold as yesterday. Even the brats, I mean cats, have been out in the catio. I don't want to bring them inside too early, because I don't want to get up too early either... oh wait, I'm going to breakfast with the roommate, if I feel up to it... I swear, this getting old stuff...grrr

Good to hear that, We don't have bird feeder, but my sister keep a bowl of water on the top fence for Birds
