Everyone is always asking me what I had for breakfast, lunch and dinner; so I decided to write a post about it.
There is a program in our area which provides a hot lunch for seniors. The charge is $2.50 per meal; but if you can't afford it, the meals are free. You can sign up for 5 meals a week or 7 meals a week. We are signed up for 5.
On Friday we had breaded fish, rice pilaf, corn, broccoli and diced pears. They also provided some whole wheat bread and milk. We usually don't eat the bread or drink the milk. We save the bread for sandwiches and the milk for pudding, etc.
What did you have for lunch?

Your lunch sounds good. Yes, it is great especially for seniors that live alone and can't cook.

@LindaOHio - I am sure there is something similar here. One of my neighbors told me that she volunteered to distributes the meals to the seniors.

@LadyDuck For those that live alone it's good because they are checked on 5 days a week.

That's some good stuff. I keep meaning to look in to that again. I need to get the lead out and remember how I got it started last time and maybe this time I can eat what they bring.

@TheHorse I couldn't eat raw fish. I have enough trouble eating cooked fish.

It was OK; and I'm not a fish eater.

@LindaOHio My MIL gifted us a Portuguese dish. It's in a shape of a fish. It was a mix of colors with dark blue being one of them. I put it on top of a Staub pan box I don't take out much so the dish would be safe. One day I needed to use that Staub pan so took the box out but forgot the dish was on top of it. It slid off the box and broke.

That sounds good. Yes, the program is especially good for seniors that live alone because someone checks on them every day during the week.

@porwest We always pay for our meals. It's a bargain at $2.50.

@LindaOHio That's the other part of the program I like. If people CAN pay, they do. That way it truly helps everyone. Like I said, it is a wonderful program that I fully support.
