"Put your hands where we can see them!" Holy sh*t! Did I just almost get shot?

I called 911 just now. It was the same old crap. Some dude was calling some woman in an apartment near me a "b*tch" and a "n*gger." This has happened before. But as I was calling, two separate Sheriff vehicles arrived. Apparently someone else had already called. I moved to my balcony. One of the officers asked me to place my hands where he could see them. I did so. I do NOT want to get shot, especially in the spine. A gun shot wound to the spine could do away with my ability to play sports or play guitar, two of my favorite things. Sigh. Do you have to deal with these inconveniences where you live?

No, I don't have to deal with them. Sorry about your experience. I bet you finally cleared your name so you can stop raising your hands Sorry, I mean your hooves

No, we live in the boonies. The most excitement is usually hearing coyotes howling in the woods.

@kareng I'd want to "wing" the little basta*d. And I'm a good enough shot do do it. But I would not.

@kareng Yeah, I'm kind of surprised as well. At my horse's old house (in the boonies near Mt. Diablo) the coyotes did most of their dirty work at night. They even at Mr. and Mrs. Duck, two very popular waddlers out there.

Sigh. It's usually quiet here too. Indian families with 3-year-olds aren't known for violence...at least not here in the US.

Holy crap! That was scary! We don't have that problem here. We live in a semi-rural area; and the houses are quite far from each other.

No. We don't have a balcony. I've had to call before and either do anonymously or I tell the police not to come to my apartment. We live in housing and I could get us killed. Some of these people aren't right in the head.

I haven't had such an experience where I live, but I have a cop living in the house behind me and a state patrol officer living up the street. I'm also pretty well acquainted with the #2 at the Sheriff's department and the SWAT Team commander. We did have a domestic disturbance a few days ago. It ended with no one getting hurt. Just an ugly breakup between a woman and her baby daddy. We don't see much of that kind of thing here in our neighborhood. Glad you didn't get shot. I've been shot at but never shot. Getting shot at was bad enough.

@TheHorse The father of her child, yes. Her husband, no. That was part of the argument. She screamed at him that he was supposed to marry her. He screamed back that there was no way he would.

I've never had to yet and hope it doesn't ever happen. I was held at gunpoint once when the motel I worked at was being robbed. It was fun. As the robbers were leaving, one of them smacked my head into a metal doorjamb. I enjoyed the headache for several days afterward. I'm glad you're okay.

@TheHorse The police said they recognized the description of the vehicle and the men I described and that they were going East on the interstate but we never heard anything more about them, so I guess not. (It was one of a string of robberies occurring along the interstate and the two guys were wanted for questioning.) Somewhere in one of my photo albums is the newspaper article about the robbery and the bill from the ER for the head wound. (My boss gave me a copy of the bill as a "souvenir" of being held at gunpoint.)
