Sometimes Lunch Ruins Dinner

This afternoon we decided to meet up with the fam for lunch at a Mexican restaurant we like in the downtown area of where we live. They always feed you well, and while it was not a particularly late lunch, it was a heavy enough lunch that it quieted the hunger pangs well into the evening for us a bit and now we're thinking we will just have toasted ham sandwiches tonight for dinner. My wife had a chicken fajita taco salad and I had a combo platter with a chicken enchilada and a chicken burrito with some Spanish rice and refried beans. Of course, we ate our fair share of the free tortilla chips and salsa of course as well. Oh well, ham sandwiches sound kind of good.

What the heck are refried beans? Your picture looks so good. It's making me crave for some tacos.

@porwest Nope. Have no idea what they are. Or at least not familiar with the name.

@lovebuglena One of the most delicious ways to eat beans, and a staple in practically any Mexican dish. I like mine with sour cream and cheese.

Ohhh, when we eat at a Mexican restaurant, I can totally stuff my face . And I can't stop with the chips and salsa - that sometimes spoils my lunch .

I have always thought it would be fun to just sit there and eat the free chips and salsa and when they come around to ask what we want to eat, we say we are full and just leave.

@porwest HA - we used to joke about that . . . but I wouldn't actually do it . I mean, it'd only be right to order something . . . at least some water .

@RebeccasFarm It was like that when I lived in Milwaukee. Once you got to 43rd street you practically jumped the border for crying out loud.

@LindaOHio I am going to second that. If we order out 99.9% of the time it is one of those two things.

We don't have Mexican often. Maybe three or four times a year. Chinese remains our #1 ethnic cuisine of choice. We probably have that once or twice a month.

Thanks. Yeah, sometimes a big or a late lunch can really spoil the dinner for us. I guess it's okay to just call dinner a late snack every once in a while.

I have tried making spring rolls. They never quite turn out. But I imagine they were very good. My sister used to make them and they were always quite tasty.

Mexican food, for me, is probably my second favorite ethnic cuisine next to Chinese. It's very good and worth trying if you can find a good place in Indonesia.
