He knew there was a leak

The lift system on the bus we use for my student in a wheel chair is powered by hydraulics. Earl the bus driver saw that there was a leak. Evidently that leak is enough that it has allowed the door to settle and it does not run the lift. We found this out when we arrived to pick up the student. It ended up that the daycare provider and Earl and I lifted the wheel chair up the steps and onto the bus. At the school the principal came and carried the student while we put the chair down. Bus manager, Quinn called Earl in the afternoon, saying it would work now, and told us what he had done. . . but. . . no one replaced the hydraulic fluid, so although we managed to get the student up with the lift at school, at the daycare we unloaded him in the wheel chair out the back of the bus. Those kinds of things do make me a bit tired. I am not sure, but I believe we will be putting him in a car seat in the Suburban (a type of vehicle) today and the wheel chair in back. I am glad it is Friday.

Hopefully, someone will actually get the lift fixed today. How in the world could they "forget" to put more fluid in the hydraulic system?

He did not "forget" It turns out he had to call the manufacturer to find out how to access the reservoir. The lift is workable and will be fully repaired over Spring break.

@GardenGerty Oh, well I'll forgive him for not having it working yet, then.

Quinn figured out how to put more hydraulic fluid in, so it will run correctly if we are careful. Spring break will give them time to do a thorough repair instead of temporary.. Spring break is coming soon.

Well, duh... if there's a leak and the leak is fixed (sealed) it would only be common sense to make sure whatever leaked is replaced up to normal levels.

Has not stopped the leak yet. Have not torn the system down enough. Earl thinks it is a bad seal; I suspect the hose has gotten pinched and has a hole. The fluid leaks out when the lift is used. Then the door settles down and catches. We now can make it work and the bus will get repaired over Spring break.

It will not get a really solid fix until Spring break.

In the suburban sounds a lot easier. Sounds like a new repairman is needed

We now have the lift usable, and the more permanen repairs will be made over break.

That would be quite difficult and heavy work without the lift.

I often think a van with a fold out ramp would be preferred. It would get better mileage, require less maintenance and would have fewer elements to go wrong.

@GardenGerty Having only a few elements that can go wrong would be a real bonus.

It is now in a usable state. Will get more extensive work in about a month when we are on break and will not need it for a week.
