When I make an announcement of the theme for a countdown there are songs that automatically pop into folks’ minds. This is probably the one everyone thought of when I said I’d do songs that mention a type of money in the title. Oh, and that happy announcement that I made on the ‘money” half, about that being the last country song? Well, on this side, it’s the last non-country song. Sorry. Enjoy. #7: Penny Lane - The Beatles So why isn’t this Shilling Lane, Paul? Hmmm???? As you probably know, Penny Lane runs through Liverpool, complete with a roundabout, a barber shop, and a banker. Very strange. McCartney just through back on his childhood memories of the street, and out came this classic tune. Enjoy. Penny Lane Written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon/McCartney) Recorded by The Beatles Released as a single, 1967 The barber shaves another customer:

Great song by great artists. So far you haven't played the ones that came to my mind first. One is from a movie soundtrack; and the other one is by a famous Swedish group.

The Swedish group’s song didn’t make the cut. It was on the list, though.

My only guess is that it was named after someone, because Penny is a woman’s name.
