A 10-Year-Old Girl Rudeness

It is not new to some that teaching is one of my leisurely ways of spending time with some rude students. I had the time of my life when having a rude 10-year-old girl student online tonight. Don't be worried about it, since I am so immune to dealing with them. Do you know what is the secret? It is simply ignored and goes along with the flow of teaching her. In the end, I am still being paid by her. Plus, I am not feeling stressed out. Why should I? How do you deal with your stressors in life? Image Credit: c.tenor.com

I would never be calm in that situation. It was great how you dealt with that.

I cannot blame you to feel that way. I am still a human being that it made me snap at random.

@Shavkat That would be me all the time! I'm not sure I'd be able to cope.

I’m glad your able to get through that without being stressed out. I don’t think I could be so calm about it.

Through the years of working with this company, I had learned how to deal with it. I had proven that the word 'ignore' does give importance to this kind of job.

I avoid stressors, when I worked I was obliged to smile and fake that they did not get on my nerves.

In this company, I made myself a clown for these rude students. Having a fake smile helps to walk through.

@Shavkat - I could not be rude with some clients of my husband, so I smiled and moved on.

@LadyDuck But I can drop the student if the behavior is not really acceptable.

I would just turn off the mic for her side and continue talking as if she weren't doing anything wrong... I MIGHT forget to turn the mic back on for her for the rest of the lesson. *shrug*

I would love to do that. If I do it, the more she will freak out. I am going to endure her again later at night. It is fine since I do not care if she complains. Just pay what is due for me.

@DaddyEvil If I am weirder than that time, I can pretend not to hear her by muting it.

@Shavkat I wouldn't be the best teacher for her. I'd shut off her mic just to see how much she'll freak out.

You ask us a hard question here: What is the best way to handle another person's rudeness towards us? Rudeness, I would say, often results from an attitude that they think they are being forced to do what they do, or are doing with you. With a youngster, I would not ignore this behaviour, but bring it up with my superior, so that either I, or they, might talk to the parents of this child about this behaviour. Rudeness should always be called out where it is possible for it to be done so.

I must say that most medical professionals have been practicing and it was also in some of their textbooks. Ignoring is the best way to manage Tantrums and other bad behaviors.

@innertalks I do agree with you. They should not pamper them that much. If they do, it is the making of spoiled brats. It is best to give valuable advice to them instead of using a love stick to them. Believe it or not, corporal punishment is still being practiced in some Asian countries. I had seen a couple of times my Korean kiddies hit by the higher-ups in this school before.

@Shavkat Thanks. Yes, many years ago, it was like that here in Australia too. I was hit a few times by teachers, and my Dad liked to wallop us too, with a bamboo feather duster rod, or with his leather belt, or sometimes with his long wooden ruler. While, I grew up alright, I still do not condone this action, or form of punishment, as it made me hate my father, for most of his life. And, I still hate and despise the horrible brute of a teacher that hit me too. To have such hate in me for so many years, I do not think that corporal punishment works. It causes more trouble than it cures.

I think it is awful that students are rude to you. What are their parents (not) teaching them?

Actually, she reported me to her father. I can hear that his father is scolding her when she closed the video camera. She is really a rotten tomato.

After the initial shock, I tell myself I cannot be responsible for how others behave.

Indeed. That is why I ignore how she behaves during class. I do not want to be stressed out with such a thing. I blame her parents if being asked about it.

Why would I lose my mind? Don't be worried. I am a good teaser and let them feel their own ghosts.

I am glad that you can do this. In my company, it is not allowed to request this. At some point, I will incur absences if I really cannot do it.
