It is not new to some that teaching is one of my leisurely ways of spending time with some rude students. I had the time of my life when having a rude 10-year-old girl student online tonight. Don't be worried about it, since I am so immune to dealing with them.
Do you know what is the secret?
It is simply ignored and goes along with the flow of teaching her. In the end, I am still being paid by her. Plus, I am not feeling stressed out. Why should I?
How do you deal with your stressors in life?

I would never be calm in that situation. It was great how you dealt with that.

@sharonelton Indeed. This rude girl will be my student later.

@Shavkat That would be me all the time! I'm not sure I'd be able to cope.

I would just turn off the mic for her side and continue talking as if she weren't doing anything wrong... I MIGHT forget to turn the mic back on for her for the rest of the lesson. *shrug*

@Shavkat I wouldn't be the best teacher for her. I'd shut off her mic just to see how much she'll freak out.

You ask us a hard question here:
What is the best way to handle another person's rudeness towards us?
Rudeness, I would say, often results from an attitude that they think they are being forced to do what they do, or are doing with you.
With a youngster, I would not ignore this behaviour, but bring it up with my superior, so that either I, or they, might talk to the parents of this child about this behaviour.
Rudeness should always be called out where it is possible for it to be done so.

@innertalks I do agree with you. They should not pamper them that much. If they do, it is the making of spoiled brats. It is best to give valuable advice to them instead of using a love stick to them. Believe it or not, corporal punishment is still being practiced in some Asian countries. I had seen a couple of times my Korean kiddies hit by the higher-ups in this school before.

@Shavkat Thanks. Yes, many years ago, it was like that here in Australia too.
I was hit a few times by teachers, and my Dad liked to wallop us too, with a bamboo feather duster rod, or with his leather belt, or sometimes with his long wooden ruler.
While, I grew up alright, I still do not condone this action, or form of punishment, as it made me hate my father, for most of his life. And, I still hate and despise the horrible brute of a teacher that hit me too.
To have such hate in me for so many years, I do not think that corporal punishment works. It causes more trouble than it cures.
