Think twice when choosing your diet

A few days ago, Australia lost an iconic personality. Shane Warne, arguably the world’s top spin-bowler in the sport of cricket, died at a tourist resort in Thailand. He suffered a heart attack after having been on a ‘liquid-only’ diet for two weeks.
Authorities warn about the dangers of a fluid-only diet, particularly for those with heart-related issues. Such extreme diets, involving the removal of whole food groups, can lead to a dilution in electrolytes. When the heart isn’t receiving the right mix of electrolytes and nutritional chemicals, it can become extremely stressed.
Once normal foods are reintroduced, there is further imbalance of electrolytes. In extreme cases which can lead to heart arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) and even seizures and death.
It seems a good argument for the old adage ‘Moderation in all things’.
Photo of some unhealthy food but boy, was it good!

I got myself a good lesson when at university, I was on the ever-popular Scarsdale Diet and it was in almost every restaurant, One day as I was sitting in the lounge at school studying my head spun around and I felt strange, I marched down to the vending machines and got myself a candy bar and a soda, Things not on this diet, As soon as I ate and drank I was back to normal and no more diet for me, Just wasn't right for my system I guess,

@RasmaSandra Any diet that leaves out one or more of the food groups, will create problems.

@kobesbuddy No, they are not good diets at all.
The best diet is moderation and sensible healthy eating.
Unless your diet consists of what Judy has in the picture, imagine that.

@JudyEv My friend drank liquid protein for over a month. Yes, she lost weight, but gained it all back on a normal diet.

I go for the moderation. I don't like extreme diets at all. Well I never went on a diet ever to lose weight. I ddi go on a diet to gain weight by eating 5 times a day and carbo loading.

That seems like such a waste of a human life. The best diet is: Eat less, move more.

@JudyEv Sure wish it was as easy to lose as to gain weight.

@1creekgirl It doesn't seem fair, does it? That we can gain it so quickly but take forever to lose it.

You don't have to tell me twice! I'm a firm believer in "moderation in all things!"

That is devastating. I am so glad that the "juice cleanse" everyone was going on and on about has calmed down. It is so harmful. Anything to do with the body should be researched and the damage should be understood because sooner or later, it is going to happen and it won't be good.

@DesirousDreamer We do treat our bodies very badly at times.

@JudyEv Apparently so! It is so sad, I know some jobs weight is a big deal, but is losing weight really that important when you can lose your life with these diets? There are other ways to lose weight! It is so scary how people have no regard for their own life, only their apperence!

I'm the same!! Silly, isn't it? Say 'diet' and all I can think about is food.
