Do You Know Any Fruit Hack?

Last Thursday, the lady whom I work for was craving for a ripe pear but her pears were still hard for her to bite. I told her to wait for the next day as I would find a way online how to ripen them fast. Yesterday, Friday, the pears were already a bit yellow but not yet ripe enough for her. So I asked her if she would like to eat a pear compote as I have searched it online how to make it. She did. That was the 1st time I made pear compote. I was glad she had all the ingredients except star anis in her kitchen cupboard. I only peeled the almost ripe pear, cut it into cubes. Then I boiled half a cup of water with a bit of sugar, vanilla sugar and cinnamon before adding the cubed of pears (which was added with lemon juice so it would not get brown), on the boiling mixture. I simmered the compote for 10 minutes. When I tasted it, my face brightened as it was so delicious. The lady eat the dessert with a smile. I am sure now that I will be making the pear compote for me and hubby at home. Right! I almost forgot. Here’s the pear hack. You can ripen the pears by putting them in a paper bag and seal them well. You can also ripen them fast when putting them in a fruit bowl with bananas and apples. Do you know this fruit hack? I thought that I have taken a photo of the pear compote but I just saw it on my iPhone that I have not. Anyway, thanks for reading. Have a wonderful sunny Saturday.

Burying mangoes ( or other fruits) in rice would make it ripen faster.

What is important is to keep the natural gas of the fruit close to the fruit, rice, paper bag, newspaper, everything works.

I made pear compote for my mother every day after she had stomach cancer surgery, she had to eat very little quantity of food many times a day and pear compote was something she liked (without star anise, we both ate the taste of anise). Putting no matter which fruit in a paper bag traps the gas near the fruit, causing it to ripen faster.

I know that putting different fruits together will speed up the ripening process because different fruits give off different levels of gases, which cause ripening to other fruits in that area.

You can put unpeeled bananas in an oven on a low temp to ripen them.

Putting raw mangoes in a jute bag and then putting the bag under your bed can make it ripe fast. This is the only one I know tho.

I remember hearing about placing an avocado in a paper bag to ripen it. Didn't know you can do that for pears.

I did not know that putting the pear with bananas and apples would help ripen it. You always make anything you try really good! Have a good weekend.
