The tail-lights are damaged - not

Our neighbours have been away for a few days but are back now. This Maui motor-home was parked outside their place and it seems they were unpacking it. We’ll have a chance to find out where they’ve been etc at some stage in the future. We were busy doing other things but both noticed that the rear tail-lights had been damaged. However, it only took a moment for us to realise that the lamps are intact with identical red and white patterns of red and white Perspex/plastic/whatever. Would you have thought that the lights were damaged?

I would have thought they were damaged, but at a second look I would have realized that two identical damages is impossilbe.

@JudyEv In Europe most cars have two colours tail lights. The red ones are the lights you use when it's dark. The white ones turn on automatically when people are backing up the car.

You would think it would be impossible for sure. I didn't notice the particular shapes at first.

@LadyDuck That's interesting. Our taillights and brake lights are red.

I would have assumed that they were damaged and told them about it. Of course I would have laughed after finding they were made that way.

They certainly looked damaged to us. We both remarked on it. I was wondering what they'd backed into that was that exact space apart.

@snowy22315 I think so too but some of the LED lights they use now have unusual patterns too.

I was feeling very sorry for them for a while as I thought that, if they had hired it, they would be up for the repairs.

I wouldn't have noticed them. I don't look that closely at something that doesn't belong to me. *shrug*

I noticed them then started to wonder how they could both get broken in the same way.

I would have thought them damaged as well, I wonder if my state would allow me to put something like that on my car. Interesting.

@rebelann I think each model of car has its standard configuration so you might have no option but to go with what's standard for your model.

What do you mean by 'something like that'? Do you mean the whole cab type thing?

That's correct. I wonder if it gives drivers a fright when they first hire it and see the taillights.

At a glance, it does look damaged. Upon enlargement of photo, it's a design on taillights.

Yes, that's right. I'm glad the lights weren't broken as they would probably be expensive to repair.

That's exactly what happened. We were quite sure the lamps were broken until we noticed the exact same shapes.

It was only when I started comparing the shape of the 'breakage' that I realised they weren't broken at all.

Because the line between red and white is jagged, it looks like it's broken.
