A big shout out to my friend @TheSojourner for the gift ot Smoked Paprika. Special surprise in the mail today. Was so very excited. We all know that she is an excellent cook and always offers great cooking tips. So if she says this spice is her favorite, then I am all in. I cannot wait to try it soon. Thank you again for making my day. Friends are the best. Photo is mine.

I will do that. She uses it in place of cayenne in many dishes. We will see. I never use cayenne.

@CarolDM I seldom use cayenne, but like to keep it on hand. It's probably useless by now. I do use Texas Pete hot sauce more often.

@TheSojourner that sounds like a great substitution. I need to chuck my bottle of cayenne and replace it. I bought it over a decade ago when I first adopted my parrot. I would sprinkle it on her food sometimes. Parrots love spicy stuff like jalapenos and cayenne. Now she is gone and I only use it rarely when a recipe calls for it. It has lost most of its strength.

Awesome and very generous, I bought a large container of paprika at Costco, but it is not the smoked variety. The paprika I had hear was as old as the hills and actually black instead of red, so time to retire that spice.
