Back to school

They have never specified exactly what the threat was that kept us away from all the schools today.
We did get an e mail that told us we would be paid just as if we had worked today, and how we should enter it on our time sheet. I did that already.
Both tomorrow and Monday we are to have increased police presence at our buildings "just in case".
It has been a couple of years since we have practiced "lock down drills", but my student and I do have a safe place we can shelter if need be. I do not expect it to come to that.
All sporting events, practices and such will resume.
School was scheduled to dismiss early tomorrow as our district is hosting relay races and many staff members volunteer to help.
I suppose it is time for me to head on to bed.

If they thought there was any real danger still, I am pretty sure we would not be going in. There are no doors that are open to the public, but you must have a pass key or be buzzed in.

Nothing ever came of the threat. There are many places called Marion County in the US Thank you for your concern.

I hope everything stays safe and the extra police presence isn't needed.
Enjoy your day at work tomorrow.

Yes, the world is scary, even in small town Kansas.

It’s mind-boggling how these kids do these things: call in a threat, or post a threat on social media. It’s nothing new, though: I remember being kept home from school because of a threat when I was in the 7th grade. (I got to act like my mom, too: when my band teacher refused to sign my absence slip and said, “there wasn’t any trouble, was there?” I replied just like my mom would have: “I don’t know, I wasn’t here.”
) The sad thing is that the authorities have to take the threats seriously.

I am not positive it was kid involved. I know of other things that have escalated in the past, such as DCF cases where children were removed and then parents/guardians have gotten wacko.

Yes, we all hope so. I think they are pretty confident, because even the sports activities are resuming.

I spent a few minutes pondering last night and thinking of safety issues.
