International Pet Day - Do you have a pet?

Today is International Pet Day, in my opinion this is a very well deserved day. Pets bring so much joy into our lives that they deserve a day to celebrate them.
I have always had pets, dogs mainly but also cats and I have so many good memories of them, I remember each one of them with a smile. Each one has its own peculiarities but they all filled my life with love. They are part of my family 
Right now I have a dog, the one you can see in the picture, and two abandoned cats that I adopted.

I tell people Pretty is my pet... Does she count? She can be a real pain in my tush, but I'm usually glad to have her around.

@nela13 Thank you. She tells people I'm her pet, so I should be able to tell people she's my pet, too.

I have an animal helper. She is Luna. Before her, Ihad an animal best friend. I don´t call them pets. Both have helped me in different ways in my life.

@nela13 Most of the days, she is the only person with whom I talk. She answers in her dog language.

@sharonelton you seem to have good memories of your pets 
it is sad that we can afford to have a pet, it is true that they need a lot of things and some, like vets, are quite expensive.

@nela13 I had a cat once called Suki who lived with my Grandma Brown. And at home we had a dog called Sandy when I was little, and then goldfish and budgies. I can't remember what the goldfish were called. Our budgie was called Joey, and then we had 2 more called Bobby and Joey. We don't have pets now because of the expense.

I do have a pet, a spoiled as heck cat. The only one more spoiled is friend's dog he brings down here.

You have a very good looking dog.
We always had a dog, but when our last one had to be put down in 2009, it took so much out of me that I do not have the heart to get another. That was a very hard loss.
Our pets were always a big part of our family, they brought us so much joy and laughter.

Yes, I have 3 cats, the masters of the house and I'm so lucky they let me live in the house rent free!

I've always wanted to raise a pet but my family is against it. They say I'm allowed to get one but not when I'm living together with them

Oh, I am sorry that your family don't allow you to have a pet, a pet can bring so much joy to our lives.
