Will You Continue To Mask?

Canada

I find that I’ve gotten used to wearing a mask, and plan to keep doing so even though most masking restrictions have lifted here in Ontario after Covid. If I am around a person who is hard of hearing and they need to read my oops I’ll take it off, but bring legally blind I can’t see faces, so I’m not that hung up on folks seeing mine. I’m actually quite comfortable with the mask. I can also wear different masks and be expressive. Will you continue to mask, or are you happy to see them go?

No. The type of mask needed to prevent the spread of a virus would be cumbersome, restrictive and expensive. The cloth and medical masks aren't effective for viruses and misuse is common. It seems to have been only a placebo by the CDC at the height of the pandemic. They recently returned to their pre-Covid statements on mask use being ineffective for the virus. If it helps people feel more protected, then it makes sense that they will continue to use them after mandates expire. Masks are still better than no masks for those at risk but don't offer much protection vs. viruses.

One of my friends wears a mask at all times, just a regular one. I don't have the heart to tell her it's useless. If it makes her feel better, then good.

If a place doesn't require a mask then I don't wear them. Every medical facility still requires a mask so I do wear them then. If asked to I have no problem wearing one, but if up to me I skip it.

I still wear it when I go out at least if I have a cold to prevent it from spreading to others.

I will continue as I noticed they help with the pollen allergies and I did not get the usual cold the past two winters.

Masks were never mandatory where I live but my daughter and I LIKE not catching every cold and flu bug floating around. We started wearing masks when Covid was announced and are still wearing them.

@DaddyEvil I’m glad I don’t have allergies. My hubby deals with them every year, and it’s heck on him.

I'm happy things better, so restrictions easing, but for me, I'll mask up and wear a shield too. Covid ever evolving, dangerous unseen for that it is, so, mask it is with shield.

Those of us who, even though vaccinated, could be hit hard if they got Covid, agree with you. Ever evolving is right. Viruses mutate and always have. I don't wear a mask just around friends or family, of course. But I do always wear one in congested places, stores, and so forth. I would like to live longer, and any virus hits me hard. It seems to help keep me from getting colds? Not sure but I haven't had a cold in over 2 years. To each his own, I know it's not mandated right now, although there are still some places that require them. All medical visits. If my son who has been so ill gets Covid I don't know if he would survive it. Even if I didn't feel I personally needed a mask still, I would do that for his safety.

@oahuwriter I truly do resent people who make fun of other people who choose to wear a mask. They don't know what that person is going through, they could be getting cancer treatments, or have a severe medical condition, or have someone who might not make it if they caught any form of the virus. Like you said, to each his own.

Here we must wear the mask to go out. I follow it since I always don't think this virus is gone. It is better to be careful and keep the precautions.

Well, I miss not wearing a mask in a public place but somehow I have gotten used to it and I find it useful especially inside an air-conditioned public place to wear it. I have allergic rhinitis and synthetic scents can trigger my allergies. And I can't tell people not to wear perfumes. So a mask is useful for me.

I've stopped wearing a mask and stopped having conversations about them. Free choice. Live and let live.

We have worn masks from the beginning of the pandemic and still. No matter what they say about it, we are comfortable and fine with it. We haven't really gotten sick at all these past couple years! Plus the mask kept me warm during winter.
