Dude Enjoying His Wild Mint

I grow wild mint in the screen room for the cats. And I use it in the winter for my hot tea sometimes. Lately, the Dude has decided to get inside the container to eat. He used to sit beside it and eat. Too funny how he just lays down. Both cats seem to love the smell and taste. Reminds me of my sweet Grandmother, she would pick wild mint on the side of her trail she walked every day. And used it in her tea. Dustin would help when he took walks with her. The good days. Photo is mine.

Dude has figured out it is much more comfortable to sit up there to eat. Those are good memories of your grandmother and Dustin to hold dearly.

And he will just lay down after eating. Too funny. Like a cow grazing. It makes me happy to see him enjoying.

@CarolDM I have never given it to my cat. I believe she would throw it up but do not know.

I wonder if my dogs would enjoy them. They hate the smell of anything minty.

Its great that he loves it that much. I used to grow some mint when we lived in our home in the little rural village years ago.

I was inside taking this photo. He is so funny to watch. This was started by my neighbor I los a few years ago to cancer. Her husband is the one I talk about often with the tomatoes and that lost his dog Oreo. She gave me a cutting years ago and mine is still growing each year.

I have noticed that the cat of my neighbors chew my mint plants. Oh well, if he likes I am surely not going to say no.

@CarolDM - I let them munch my mint and my plants. I noticed that they know which plants are dangerous.

Cats eating mint? Sounds strange. I use mint in a lot of things like tea, sauces, cooking etc.

Not strange at all. Pet stores sell catmint all the time. It is good for them.

I didn't know cats like mint but Dude certainly seems to be enjoying it. My mom used to grow mint and I would always bring some home for tea (both hot and iced)

We planted some mint so we can have some in our tea too. I didn't know kitties like it. I'll have to see what Ginger thinks about it.

Cats love this catmint and mine really like this wild mint. They will rub in the leaves. The smell is really nice. I always get my leaves before they “graze” in the container.

If a cat wants something bad enough they'll find a way to get it. That's actually really cute.

I hope you can too. And it wouldn't take a very large one to grow mint.
