I always enjoy browsing for hacks to try out or to share. It's amazing the imagination of the people who come up with these ideas to make everyday chores in life easier. Here is a cool one I came across to share with you... KEEP YOUR PAINT CAN FREE FROM SPILLS WITH A RUBBER BAND I plan on painting my bathroom and this little trick just made my job a little less messy. I find it hard to not create spills when I wipe excess paint off the brush I'm using. And it also collects on the rim of the can making it hard to get a solid seal when I put the lid back on. Ever have this problem? Anyway, if you take a large size rubber band and wrap it around and over the paint can in the middle, you can wipe off the excess paint on the band and the spill goes right back into the can instead. How do you like that idea? Do you have any other painting tips you can share? Source- www.lifehack.org Photo- pinterest.com

That is a very good tip indeed. I'll take note of that. Painting will definitely be smooth.

@ihasaquestion I haven't tried it myself. I'm just the messenger I agree with you, maybe the basement or garage somewhere cool to keep the roller moist. The fridge is for food, right...

Yes, I thought so too. Other clever painting tips: 1. Use a pringles potato chip can to store your paint roller for next time. Just place it in the can and refrigerate. The paint will not dry out so need to clean the paint off the roller. 2. Don't like the paint smell odor. Add a couple of teaspoons of vanilla extract to the can of paint. Stir it in. This will mask the odor.

@dgobucks226 But won't the fridge smell if so? I'd rather keep it in the storeroom or garage etc.

Sometimes I use BluTac or similar to put a plastic lid/plate on the bottom of the tin. That helps stop drips too. I use the lid of an ice-cream container.

@dgobucks226 You can wrap the roller or brush in plastic wrap too to stop it drying out.

Half of my garbage can got painted inadvertently, when I knocked the paint container over. Henceforth, I’ll hire someone. But that IS a good idea!!!

@dgobucks226 I wash my paint rollers and I use a product, then wrap in kitchen foil and store in a dry place, surely not in my refrigerator. I am glad we have odorless paint here, in France they had a bad smelling paint.

@jstory07 Do you mean to say when you paint a room you do not smell any paint odor? Interesting?
