A kid verbally abuses me using my own language!

Isabella was slightly verbally abusive toward me yesterday. She is 4-years-old and is another of those kids I've known since she was 1 1/2. She is the one who put put multiple kisses on my cheek when I rescued her from choking several months ago. Yesterday, I said something to her, I forget what, and she said, crossly, "Don't make us stop. We're doing a 'speriment. That's science." Perhaps she had forgotten that the one who had taught her words like "experiment" and "science" was me. I think they were seeing what floats and what sinks in the water table. "I said, "Well, excuse me! But I'm glad you're doing an experiment." I walked away. Kids crack me up. I find myself saying "I stand corrected" often, like when they tell me, "That's not a bird. It's a turkey." Working around kids is humbling. Or not. Photo is of an "old friend," not the kid this post is about.

Kids are amazing little creatures. You could write a book. Oh! Never mind! You are!

Heh. Most of the kids in my book were really troubled, or at least from really troubled backgrounds Maybe I'll add a few chapters about "normal" kids, just for...comic relief?

@TheHorse Yes, you could lighten it up a little; but it would still be psychologically related.

Do not complain if you are the one responsible of teaching her those words.

Yep. I don't even bother saying "Turkeys ARE birds!" There will be time for that.

@Deepizzaguy I encourage kids to ask questions. And "test" their own "hypotheses."

Kids nowadays are more expressive. It's a good thing as long as they are being brought up in the right way.

I have been asked when am I going to pull a baby out of my tummy by my little friend when he was about 3 or so. I asked him why do you ask that? Mom did that so you should also. I do have a belly I shouldn't be proud of. LOL

They really do grow up fast. Especially when they're young. Three years ago I was checking her diaper for poop. Now she's defeating me in arguments.

I was trained as an experimental psychologist long before I took any "clinical" classes. I am happy when that (the experimental side) of me rubs off on the kids I work with.
