Good afternoon from this side of the planet.
. It's 12:30 PM here and I just returned back from school. Rice is getting cooked in the rice cooker for lunch as I sit here to relax a bit with mylotting
It was third day to work after school re-opened after summer vacation. The last two days were too hectic and it was long day at work from 8 AM to 2:45 PM.
Today I had work only from 8:30_10:30 and all was to meet the two new parents with Down's Syndrome boys. I didn't carry my lunch like last two days. I thought that I would be back in time for lunch. Glad that I had cooked kidney beans curry ( rajma ) in the morning to pack for my husband. Rice should be ready in some time. The aroma of basmati rice is making me more hungry
The newly appointed assistant teacher for the pre primary school had to join us from today but she couldn't. Her husband came back from UK on Tuesday and is infected with the Covid virus
. So, she can only join us from 15th June. Good that the pre primary sections start from 15th June.
So, the pre primary teacher without her assistant is left alone to set up the class. It's a lot to do in the pre primary classes before you actually welcome the children. So, she asked me if I could pitch in for an hour to help her. And I love to get any opportunity to be associated with Pre Primary
.
So, today I helped her an hour to clear up the cupboards and sort things.
She gave me a ride back on her two wheeler
. We didn't carry our lunch, so we left the school by 12.
Tomorrow I have a meeting with the principal and other new assistant special educator. It starts at 8 and I should be done by 10. I offered to help her till 12 tomorrow. Let's see what all I can do.
Now, for the rest of the day, I have nothing much planned except for a load of laundry after lunch and maybe some work on my laptop sending mails to parents and students to welcome them to school coming week and the instructions.
I plan to peep in here now and then.
See you later. I will read a few posts and respond till the rice gets ready

That is kind of you to help. Your help will be rewarded later at some point. It will be a busy week ahead for you all. Enjoy your lunch.

Thank you. Actually I made a lateral shift in my career around thirteen years ago. Moved from research and corporate world to education. And worked first five years as Montessori adult. Later I got into special education and counseling. I always loved the age group of pre primary children from 2 years to 7 years. I would not miss any chance to be with them, work with them or help setting up things for them
. So, helping her was actually a reward for myself

Yes, the aroma is tempting. If you have rosemary plant, adding a few leaves to any ordinary rice would give it an aroma similar to that of basmati.
It's a bit hectic as it's the beginning of the academic year and lots needs to be planned. I am not so active in cyberspace but definitely try to be here whenever I can. It helps me relax

I am here in between chores and job. I just love this place and it's a great way to relax.

Oh! She was happy. On Saturday we took our lunch packed and worked late there finishing most of the bulk of work. From Monday High school and Middle school students will come and I would get busy with them. And I would not be help her. She has to do all by herself on Monday and Tuesday. Young children will come from Wednesday. Good that her assistant would be back by then..I helped her to get all the major things done on Saturday so that she is not overwhelmed. I felt good to be helpful to a coworker.

Before I became a special educator for all age groups, I worked in a Montessori environment. And I love these children in the age group of 3 years to 7 years. I enjoyed preparing the environment for them. So I always want to do so
She is a safe driver. I never learnt to ride two wheeler as I was scared of it. It's just 5 minutes ride from the school. I can't go for long distance rides in two wheelers on heavy traffic road.

@LadyDuck I ride cycle and would go cycling to work also on few days. I could never learn the motored bikes. I got no opportunity to do so. I learnt driving at 19 and as I grew old, I got a fear of riding bikes in traffic.

Thank you. We would welcome High school and Middle school from tomorrow.. Younger children will join from Wednesday. This week was hectic for teachers taking care of so many things and getting the class prepared to welcome children.
We hope that it's a great academic year.

@arunima25 Around here the new academic year starts generally at the beginning of September, although some schools (stupidly in my opinion) start in August.

Pre primary teachers have to do a lot to get things ready for children. And it can be overwhelming if you are doing it alone without your partner teacher. She was happy thar I helped her and I felt good to be a helpful coworker.
So, you have working Sunday. Hopefully you catch up with the rest and enjoyment later. I worked till 4 on Saturday helping the teacher finish most of the things. I would get busy with High school and Middle school from Monday. I didn't want her to get overwhelmed on Monday and Tuesday with so much left.
Sunday got busy here with all chores and getting ready for next week. Now it is six in the evening and I can relax a bit

Even I go for light dinner. And sometimes it's just a cup of soup.
Covid cases have again started rising here. We have got a couple of cases here too in our apartment
. We just hope and pray that it's not the knock of another wave. Things have just started getting back to normal.

Having school back in session sounds like a lot of work getting back into the swing of things. Our schools just finished for this year and the new semester doesn't start until Sept.

Yes, it's a lot of work on part of school administration and teachers to prepare and welcome students on campus for a new semester. And the same happens while winding up a semester before going for break. Well now we are into the swing.
Here too the schools following international curriculum start there academic year in September.
