Good morning from the NC foothills

K and I left home yesterday after lunch and arrived at our campsite and were set up in time to enjoy dinner. We are in the North Carolina foothills near the northwestern end of High Rock Lake, a lake formed by a dam across the Yadkin River, creating a reservoir to serve the thirsty people of Charlotte. We woke up this morning to a temperature of 58F/14C, a light breeze, and low humidity. Basically, a perfect camping morning. After a quick walk with the dogs, I cooked breakfast while K set up inside to work. Yes, she has to work remotely until noon today. This is actually a good thing. We hadn't anything but resting and relaxing planned for this afternoon and she only has to use 1/2 a vacation day. Breakfast was scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and English muffins cooked outside on the grill. Our travel grill has a griddle I used for the sausage and muffins as well as a pot and pan ring for the skillet. How was your morning today?

I love to read of your camping adventures. How peaceful it sounds. Enjoy the time there. Morning is iffy is all I will say but one good news is the inhaler seems to be helping a bit though it took me ages to get it.

I'm glad you enjoy the tales of our adventures. It is peaceful and quiet here. Unlike our last camping trip to the KOA where there were lots of families with kids, this campground seems to be filled with older folks like us. That may change as the day goes on, but for now, I'll enjoy the quietude. Good to know the inhaler is helping. I had to use one a few years ago when I had a very bad case of bronchitis and remember the number of times it took me to feel comfortable with it. I think my illness was over by the time I got used to it.

@DWDavis Yes they sure do take some getting used to. Oh you had that too then..how long did it take to go away and did they also give you antibiotic? Yes good it is quiet there for now and I hope it stays that way somewhat at least.

@RebeccasFarm It took about ten days to go away once I finally went to visit the doctor. He gave me antibiotics and some very good cough medicine along with the inhaler.

Not as good as that. Roomie's toilet was partially clogged and he had to use my bathroom...

Of all the occasional household necessities that crop up, unclogging toilets is one of the most unpleasant.

Hope his clogged toilet isn't a big plumbing problem @snowy22315

I got a new roof this morning. I’d say you had a much better morning than I did.

We had our roof replaced a few years ago. I hope the next time it needs doing someone else owns the house.

@DWDavis — the warranty on these shingles is listed at 35 years. That means the next time the roof needs replacing I’ll be in an old folks home or in Heaven.

It sounds like a wonderful start to your weekend. You've got a nice set up there. My hubby's eldest sister and her hubby live in their camper 6 months of the year here and the other 6 months down in Florida. They love it.

@DWDavis My in-laws love it so much that they moved out of their home and have a daughter and her family living in it.

@Juliaacv There are more people choosing to be full-time RVers every year. With wi-fi everywhere, lots of jobs can be done remotely from almost anywhere.

K and I are still trying to decide how much time we want to spend on the road in our camper when we retire in a couple of years.

Thanks. If the weather holds like it's been so far, it should be a very nice weekend.

You look to have the ideal camping set-up there. They make some wonderful campers nowadays.

Our camper is truly our home away from home. If I didn't have to go back, I could live like this from now on.

@DWDavis Some here are doing just that. Living in the vans and moving round the country as the whim takes them.

It was a perfect weekend to be camping. Not too hot. No rain. Gentle breezes. A river to kayak on. Great friends to hang out with.

K and I just returned from our morning walk with the dogs. She took a break from work - she's working remotely today - and we strolled the 1/2 mile down to the pond on the campground.

Wow, that's one really nice camper. 58f sounds awfully cold to me but then I always did like it hot.

58 is cool, but a nice temp to wake up to. It is up to 74F/22C now with a gentle breeze.

Sounds and looks like a perfect camping place for you both. You made more for breakfast on your grill than I did with a full kitchen Have fun!

I enjoy using our travel grill to prepare nice meals. With the different pieces it has, the grill is a versatile device.

Camping out looks really neat. My sister who lives in Canada is off to a campsite every weekend with her hubby - they are both retired.

I have a year to go before retirement and K has a few more. We will be spending a lot more time camping once we both are.

Enjoy your time away. A nice quiet morning here. Enjoyed the dew on the roses and coffee in the screen room earlier.

There is something serene about dew on rose petals. The air was dry enough here that we never reached the dewpoint and the grass wasn't wet when we took the dogs out for their early morning walk.
