- Whew ! Unlike the gas prices, the weather temps are falling. Its now going be around 102* for the week instead of the 117* this past week. Today is being cooled down a bit with a nice moderate wind blowing some of the heat away. Its actually rather nice outside if you dont mind the dirt in your teeth and eyes. I wish I could be outside just sitting and watching the wind blow things around. But my allergies are starting to act up. I noticed that after I recovered from covid, my allergies seem to have gotten more sensitive. When spring started, I could feel and taste the pollen in my lungs and throat. That is something that I would only feel if I was in the middle of a flower field or a farm of citrus trees. But I would feel its affects in the morning, waking me up. Its never affected me whenever id be indoors. Today I can feel an occasional itch or irritation in my throat, taste of pollen. Well, enough of my lil rant. Hows everyone ! I finally got an appointment with an allergist a couple of months ago and he's trying to figure out what's causing all my crazy allergies. (He did a bunch of tests and believes part of it is allergies and part of it is I have an autoimmune disease that is causing the eye swelling.) He's prescribed three new-to-me meds, that don't seem to be working, so has started talking about a shot that he believes will work. It's just got to be approved by my insurance. So we're waiting for that. Gas prices here still aren't as high as they are there. I paid $4.50 a gallon for mid-range fuel yesterday. It still took $60 to fill my tank. I hope you're feeling better quickly.

@Plethos The allergies started almost 20 years ago so it might be difficult to remember what changed then but they haven't stopped, either. No, my eyes are fine except they swell closed. (I turned all my screens black with white writing on them so my eyes don't get tired like people who look at white screens with black letters on them.)

allergies can be anything. from soap detergent to dryer sheets. wooden furniture or fabric. just try to think when it started and what has changed. are your eyes getting tired from blue light ? thats a new one due to all the cell phones and tablets we use now.

Warm as hell here in Scotland 16C. Here, Pollen is a type of Cannabis. And I wish I could taste it in my lungs and throat. It's like good old fashioned Pot. These days it's all Weed. No Pot at all And that saddens me

@Plethos You get those? Here, for the past couple years, it just seems like there has been wind/breeze every single day. It's never dying out, very odd.

@much2say - ever hear the saying they have in the Victorville , upper desert area of how "the wind blows twice a year in the area. 6 months from the west, 6 months from the east." its true. i used to live in the Inland Empire area, i hated driving up the mountain to victorville and barstow.

its the winds that happen during the changing of the seasons. when the winds die out, summer begins.

It's kinda windy here as well but lucky for me no dust as yet. I really hate those dust storms we've been getting. I'm glad you recovered from Covid.

Oh no, more wildfires? Bummer Back in May there was a horrendous one in the Gila Wilderness they dubbed the Black Fire, the smoke from that damn thing blew over 5 different states.

@rebelann - i believe it. the winds in the upper atmosphere can carry smoke and smells for miles.

That's a shame about your increased sensitivity. Covid seems to hit everyone differently.

Heat wave here. The heat index is in the 100's. Not a fan. Gas prices are crazy high too.

sno cones, or shaved ice would be a good thing to get to try to cool down.

We got a little break earlier this week and were able to shut the air off and open the windows for about three days. But the air's back on and windows shut again. Going to be a sauna this weekend.
