I Am Leaving !

Just like that - she is leaving! A friend of mine told me she woke up one morning , looked at her husband sleeping next to her and decided that she did not want to be with him anymore. She is 45 , married for 11years , no children - might have made a difference if they had. Both are financially well off ,so l asked her what was the problem. Her reply was - " Boredom , l am tired of seeing his face every day, when l wake up he is there, when l get home from work he is there , or will be there soon. We do the same things over and over , there is no excitement in my life l am leaving" There are couples who stay together for 20, 40, 60 years. What would make someone fall so completely out of love in 11 years? Any ideas? Pixabay image.

Boredom is a bad one. Men do the same thing, they seek out something better. My first husband did this, no fighting involved. Twenty-five years later he commented to our son, "I should have stayed with your mother!"

@Kandae11 My ex decided that he wanted to go back to dating, after ten years of marriage. It hurt, but I raised our two children without a father or a husband.

I think men do it more than women. After a number of years, they leave with a younger woman, and after awhile, some wished they hadn't

Maybe she was not in love in the first place.

Both had and still have good jobs, so it could not have been financial reasons. Infatuation , perhaps?

It seems to be a shallow reason to leave a marriage, as you do commit to another, it doesn't go for better or worse, or until I get bored with you...however, you only live once.

That's what she was saying: She wanted a bit of happiness in her life. I wonder why she married him in the first place.

Why I never get married, I can see that with some people. I really think a lot of times it just this world we live in, makes us become different people in a bad way, but what do I know. I do think people get married for the wrong reasons and sad to say my friend and his wife who married because they could be financially be better off because how our laws are designed seem to be happiest and they not all that happy but they stick it out. It does suck feeling trapped but why getting married is no joke. I do not care what anyone says the world is just not what it used to be and they pretty much made it every person for themselves. They have done nothing to make this world better even with all their fancy technology life is much harder than even when I was 23.

@Kandae11 It would have to be something crazy to make me do that, but as of now there is no way I am getting married.

I have to believe she was not really in love to leave so soon.

That could be the main reason. Of course some couples fall more in love with each other as time goes by.

What was she doing to make the relationship better? The people who do the most complaining about their relationship. Are the same people who put in the least work in making the relationship from becoming boring?

I agree. Seems to me she just wanted out - whatever the reason. Who knows, he was probably bored too but didn't show it.

Oh, I am sorry for him. This is not a valid reason for your friend to get separated. Instead of thinking of the separation, she should have thought of making life interesting.

@Kandae11 If she is leaving him for the reason she is bored of him then it's not a good reason for getting divorced.

@sjvg1976 No, it is not. She should first try to find a way to make the marriage more interesting. If it doesn't work, at least she would have tried.

If they don't go out as their bonding it will be boring seeing each other at home. Maybe they can do recreational activities. Go to places -

@Kandae11 maybe they need to go out. Unwind a bit. They need to see the outside world, it sounds like they only confined in the corners of their home.

That is so sad in my opinion. It makes me question if they ever were in love or if it was just convenience. I cannot imagine falling out of true love.

It is truly sad. What l find hard to understand is that she is making no attempt to save the marriage. - a clear sign that she no longer loves him.

@Kandae11, they might feel suffocated with a relationship that didn't progress and last for life. Their love didn't endure.

I don't know what to say really Maybe couples need a shared hobby/interest or separate hobbies/interests so they have something to talk about. It sounds like boredom to me really but I hope she knows what she's doing.

I know some wives with husbands who are hardly ever home. Even at night they are out carousing, perhaps she would prefer someone like that.

Just as she said boredom or maybe her husband has no interest in her anymore or he might belittle her or even be abusive. Many women do not disclose the true facts.

Exactly. I am on the outside looking in , l won't really know what is truly going on in the marriage because we are not that close for her to tell me everything. Some men appear to be the truly nice guy, but in reality they are not.

He probably doesn't want to do any of the same things she does. For a person with a zest for things, This is like being trapped in a closet. After 11 years, this is her time to be free

Nothing in common, they lived together and they were surely bored since day one. At least they have no children, that would have not changed the situation.

Her attraction is just in the physical level. If you love someone you come closer to his heart as days pass by. Physical attraction is temporary but love is eternal.

@Kandae11 I guess your friend told you why she was leaving. There is no spice to their marriage anymore. Is there a way they can spice up the romance somehow so she does not have to leave? Would date night help and doing something that they both have wanted to do that is adventuresome they could do together?
