See how they run!!

Saturday I got some things out of my big shed that I had promised Earl the bus driver. He came to get them, and we visited a bit. While we were visiting I looked across to the field. A Doe and fawn were running wildly across the field towards trees at the far edge. As Earl said, it is unusual to see them out like that mid day. I suspect they came from the nearby grove of cedar trees. It is densely grown and seems a place that would shelter wild animals. Bob and I suspect it also hosts bobcats and other predators. Perhaps the deer family was making a quick escape.

How nice to see those deer. I hope the bus driver liked the things you gave him..

Yes. I had an old bench that I could not or did not want to repair. His lady friend loves to do those kinds of things.

@GardenGerty Oh, great. That's fantastic. It's good that the bench did not go to waste.

@sharonelton Now it is no longer taking up space in my shed.

We never see the deer coming to the gardens here, but we see them if we walk up in the woods.

Nice to be near a woods area. Deer have quite the eclectic taste for growing things. @LadyDuck the boars would scare me. I know there are some places in the US where we have them.

@GardenGerty The boars are scary, we have a free number to call if we see them approaching the gardens, they are dangerous.

@MALUSE I am glad they do not come to visit the gardens. I have seen foxes and martens and wild boars in winter. Those are dangerous.

I only get worried for my cats, who insist on being outside.

After last night I am convinced the deer were running from a coyote.

It's always fun to see deer and other wildlife in the yard. We've seen deer, fox and turkeys.

Yes, with this empty field we see all of those, and hawks, owls, snakes, possums, armadillo, squirrels. Never bored.

@GardenGerty Very cool. We hear owls but never see them. We don't have armadillos; but we also have raccoons.

Probably they're running to save their lives from the predators.

Perhaps, or maybe they just felt like going for a run.

Not a typical behavior. I have not usually seen the fawns at all.

We used to see deer all the time on the farm. Now, the only time I see one is after one of my brothers or niece comes in from hunting.

It certainly sounds as if they were fleeing from a predator

Yes, midday in the summer is not a typical time to see them.
