A sad day for our family!

Today, my son's dog died, and we are all so sad. I can't hardly stand this feeling of sorrow and it brings to mind that my own dog may not be far behind.
I remember holding him when his eyes were barely open.
He was a chiweenie and so cute. Sadly, he had cancer and by the time my son noticed it was too late. It came about so quickly that I thought his lymph nodes were swollen, but apparently he had stomach cancer and it spread through his body like a wildfire. I was at my son Dillon's house a couple of days ago and he was jumping all over the place, and didn't act sick at all. The vet told him there was nothing they could do. So he had him put down, but he's getting the ashes which seems to comfort him.
The picture is my grandson Dillon(another Dillon) holding Facebones (the name comes from a heavy metal cartoon) about 12 years ago.

@misunderstood_zombie So true, I was devastated when my neighbors had to put their cat Willy to sleep. Willy visited us every day, he was a bit "my" cat.

It's really very sad. That's why I do not keep pets as I cannot bear this sorrow.

Sorry for your loss. I can relate to that as I have lost few dogs.
. May Facebone rest in peace. It's tough to get over the loss of our fur babies just like any loved ones.

I lost a dog a few years ago to stomach cancer. Like yours, by the time she had symptoms, it was just too late. She was active up until the end, always went to her vet visits per schedule, and so forth. I wasn't ready, we just never are. I am so sorry. It's very hard, especially when there are children who love them.

I'm sorry for your loss also. This sounds just like my son's dog. He never knew anything was wrong because he was active until the end.

Awww, so sad. I hate when pets cross the rainbow bridge, but at least no more suffering for them.

Oh I am so very sorry Rhonda..may the Lord bring comfort to you all at this time RIP poor doggie.
I tell you, your grandson in that photo is a complete doll..look at those eyes!! God bless them all.

Thank you! Facebones was one of those dogs that had so much energy all the time. When my son wasn't working he had his dog in his lap all the time playing video games, so it will be hard for him for awhile.
My grandson is 16 now, and I still think he quite handsome, but he won't believe me.

It is sad, but I just think I would rather have had the love and loss, then not to have loved a pet at all. Sorry, I feel I'm sounding too much like Shakespeare.
