I had a surprise when I was ready to cook supper

We went grocery shopping this afternoon as I needed a few things for the meal I was planning. I took meat out of the freezer upstairs to make a skillet dinner that I made about a month ago. It calls for hamburger, green peppers, riced cauliflower, diced tomatoes and cheese.
After coming home I took all the veggies I needed to prepare out of the fridge to chop up and decided to begin cooking the burger meat at the same time when I'd discovered it wasn't hamburger as I thought but stew meat.
So instead I fried up some ground turkey made into patties and cooked up some mixed veggies from Gordon food service that has zuchinni and summer squash, carrots and green beans in it.
I've never had ground turkey before and I was impressed as it was quite good. The pic is my meal.
Now I need to look in the downstairs freezer to see if I put the hamburger there. If not I'll need to buy some. In the mean time I might cut up my veggies and freeze them so they're ready when I make the skillet meal.
My husband will have to figure out what to do with the stew meat since I'm back to work tomorrow.

@MarshaMusselman We eat very little during summer, I sleep well if I eat almost nothing for dinner.

We are the stew meat tonight but didn't use it for stew itself as that wasn't the plan. My husband had it with cauliflower and I had a salad.

@LadyDuck sometimes I'll only have a salad. If I don't eat something then I'm looking for snacks to have later which isn't good.

That's good. Your hubby knows how to cook. Me I don't know. I rely so much from my chef, my wife.

My husband been getting tired of making hamburgers with beef so the ground turkey is like adding something else to our diet.

Yes, I know that and I've been doing it all week. I'll probably put the stew meat in the crock pot before work tomorrow and he'll just have to cut up and cook some cauliflower to go with it.

@RubyHawk I've been using it a lot more this summer or maybe I should say this year since summer just started last week on the calendar.

I have to say that ground turkey is not a favorite of mine, but I also have to say it's good. I hardly ever have it in the house, but I do remember for a while it was cheaper than ground beef and I used it in several dishes I might otherwise use ground beef for.
Glad it all worked out.

We have plenty of food in the house especially since we just went shopping. It's a matter of figuring out what to have that's thawed already. I probably could have cooked up the stew meat and had that with the same veggies but I didn't think of that until after I'd already begin cooking the turkey.

@MarshaMusselman I am terrible about thawing stuff. I always have to do it in the microwave.

@CarolDM I've just been cooking the meat in the crock pot so the veggies don't overcook. We can't have potatoes right now.

Either would have been. The skillet meal would have provided several servings and that's one meal my husband doesn't seem to mind having more often.

It was better than I expected. I knew the veggies would be good because I've had them before.

Probably because most of it is the same color and looks the same when frozen.
