We grow them.in our garden but this year the bloody slugs and snails and pigeons got them

The price of sunflower oil has gone sky high yet the flowers are in abundance in UK shops at reasonable prices. How come?
I don’t know if you can extract some oil from any seeds on your flowers, but if you can I would and use it to make your fella a stir fry when you see him next. That would be returning the love full circle.

@Orson_Kart I wanted to plant it actually and maybe hope I can get enough for a meal when it grows. I suppose you'd need a lot of it for oil.

@flapiz I’ve not done myself, but I assume you have to crush the seeds. This is normally done on an industrial scale, but I thought you might get enough oil to make one meal? I don’t think it’s something you can do with your fingers. I normally put the seed heads out for the birds. They love them.
