My house is a wreck!

My husband decided to replace the tub in his bathroom with a walk in shower. How hard could that be, right? Well, it's been an ongoing project forever, it seems like. First he had to take out the tub, replace the walls around the shower, then we'll paint the bathroom, replace floor and ceiling molding, and border. In the utility room which is on the other side of the bathroom, he's had to redo the walls, plumbing, paint and a million other things. I have my clothes dryer in the dining room, the washer is in the kitchen, and there are tools all over the place. We're planning to paint today or tomorrow. It's a job, I tell you what, bud. But it will be nice if and when it's ever finished. Dale is still struggling with the fatigue from Covid he had in May. Life happens and we just have to deal with it. I'll sure be glad to get my house back in order again, though. What's happening with you guys?

Sounds like a huge project. I hope it all goes well. I'm sorry Dale is still handling long COVID-19. Our housekeeper is coming today. That's all that's happening. Have a good day.

I know you're glad your housekeeper is coming. Is NC too far to send her afterwards?

@misunderstood_zombie We're just about through with the laundry room. The shower is installed and plumbed, still have to paint the bathroom and a few more things.

That will be wonderful to have it all finished. And to get my washer back in. I'm running out of clean clothes!

I dread these house projects . . . they always seem to end up to be a can of worms . It almost always takes longer than expected too. Hope it all gets completed soon so you can have your house back together!

@1creekgirl I don't doubt it. How is your husband doing - as he has the covid fatigue? My friend's husband is going through that right now . . . said he gets tired more easily.

I imagine that this is exhausting for Dale, who seems to suffer of Long Covid. No major changes here, we are only going through piles of old things, donating and throwing.

@1creekgirl - We have too many things. We should have not moved a lot of stuff from Monte Carlo when we moved here, I should have donated everything we had double.

I need to do that, too. My cousin's son recently moved into his own place so I'll see if I have some household items he might could use.

These sorts of projects tend to get more involved than you bargain on. And everything takes longer than you bargain on too.

So true, a few years ago we had the small bathroom redone downstairs and it took too long .

@Nakitakona We finished the last part by putting up a border. Now I just have to find some bath rugs. It really is a relief to have it finished.

Just running around trying to find cheap prices for everything. I did manage to score gas for 3.99 at Costco, and cherries for 2.99 a pound at Aldi.

You found some great bargains. I can't believe I'm calling 3.99 gas a bargain. Everything's relative.

We'll be getting solar panels tomorrow. So, I'm looking forward to that. We'll be out of power for a little while, but it's okay. We're still waiting on this week's schedule. Not sure when George will be going back to work.

@1creekgirl No. He's going back to work, but without the weekly schedule we don't know when. Funny enough, a few minutes after I hit reply, the schedule was posted.

If there is anything that I have learned from watching remodeling shows on HGTV is that you better plan on running into several issues when you decided to update or remodel a part of your home. I am sure it will be lovely when it is completed. A couple of friends of ours who have had covid are still suffering effects from it. Mostly low energy like Dale, and memory problems. Very sad.

Remodeling is rewarding but it always takes longer than we think it will. I have lived through several remodels, and if I never have to do that again, it's ok. I hope it goes well for you.

It's been a long, hard project. We're probably 3/4 finished. Dale hasn't completely recovered from his second round of Covid, but he thinks he's still 40 and can do everything.

I know the feeling. A couple of years ago, my husband redid our kitchen counter tops. The house was turned upside down when he did that.
