It's been a tough go. Either people don't want to work or are not hirable. What a situation.
One guy came in and seemed promising considering he had no job and was collecting unemployment and what we offered would have doubled his money. He said it was "not a fit."
Another guy came in and admitted at the end that he would not be able to pass a drug test. Not for marijuana, which is legal in our state. But he was apparently on something else.
No go.
A guy came in yesterday who seems promising. But he did not stay to complete the application, opting instead to fill it out at home. He said he would bring it in today, so we will see. We'll hire him if he does.
I can't spend much more time working in the warehouse and won't. So hopefully we gain some ground here soon. Fingers crossed.
The money is too good to walk away from right now. But I just can't do the warehouse.

It's strange that people don't seem to want the work. What with the cost of living crisis and everything. Do you have that in the US?

@porwest What I don't understand is why sometimes people with privilege, and celebrities and the like can get things for free because they are rich and famous even though they are rich and can afford it, but poor people who cannot afford it have to pay!

@sharonelton It is what it is. At the same time rich people tend to be quite generous. They start businesses and create jobs and products we all need.

I still find it mind boggling that with high gas prices, high food prices, and high inflation that people can still afford NOT to work.

@porwest Welfare and unemployment can’t possibly be paying that well.

@moffittjc It most certainly can't. And not everyone can make a living doing YouTube or Tik Tok. Maybe they are all MyLotting? We all know this is one gig to kick the boss to the curb for sure. lol

I always say to people who say that sort of thing, "the benefits are designed to be low enough you will want to get back to work again as soon as possible." lol
We eventually did, and I have mixed feelings about him now as I sit here revisiting this post. He was ONE of the reasons I finally decided to pack it in. Not the ONLY reason. But he had a good deal of power to help me to decide.

Wonder why the guy didn’t want to fill out the application there.

And so goes the situation in the US right now. All these jobs; and no one is truly interested. I hope they find someone soon.

It appears that the guys you interviewed didn't really care if he got the job.
